Just as the title says... which one and why?

I've had both. I am more or less a larue fanboy.....and I shoot the stealth right now.

BUT - if you are buying the stealth brand new it ain't worth it over the BCM. If you get a good deal it's at least a little better IMHO.

The stealth's receiver is better, and the barrels are pretty much the same. The stealth rail is heavier, but maybe you aren't worried about that.

I second this.

Both are top quality. I dont care for the feel of the Troy/VTAC handguards though.

Is there a $300-$400 difference that makes the LaRue better than the other?

I would say the quality is about the same except for the BCG is nicer in the BCM. The LaRue seems to me to be a pretty heavy upper.

Price wise not really customer service wise, LaRue has excellent CS.
