I hear good things about the S&W M&P pistols.

I have always liked the XD platform myself. The grip angle seems to be the same as a 1911.

If you're not doing Glock I think M&P are awesome guns too. They have their stuff together with that gun, very comfortable to shoot.

H&K USPc in 9mm. Tied with Walther P99 (early version) i like second strike capability w/out having to move you hand to rack the slide.
One day i wll let you road test that unit, then your glasses will fog up, like walking in to a strip club with shower dancers!

S&W M&Pc for striker fired w/ Apex DEAK :) You know who i'm talking to

M&P Pro Series in 9mm. Apex junk is un-necessary as after 1000 rnds the trigger smooths out and then has a really nice predictable break. The only necessary add-ons imho are 10-8 mag baseplates and the Sprinco recoil spring kit. I have 2, both with approx 3000 thru each, not a single malfunction of any kind, and they are bullseye accurate at defensive ranges. (4.25s with Tritiums)

Have to argue with calling Apex parts junk...They're anything but junk.

High quality fantastic enhancements for the M&P is more like it..

But I'll agree to disagree....I just so happen to think the Pro is over priced for the things you get...Most of the price of the pro, is to have "pro" laser engraved on the slide...the pro trigger is still shit, as are the S&W Night sights.

My suggestion, M&P 9, Trijicon Night sights, APEX DCAEK. For about the same price as the pro and much higher quality than OE S&W.

Wrong on so many levels. Have you put 6000 rounds thru the M&P Pro? I highly doubt it. The trigger itself only gets better as you put more rounds thru it. Tritium is Tritium so I don't see how the S&W sights are shit. Prove it. $50 and I'll out shoot you at FL, 10 yards with either of my Pros, your choice, any ammo you choose any time. You bring any pistol you want. Bring your Apex junk if you dare.[Beer]

I haven't put 6000 rounds through a Pro, you're right, however I've seen the Sear up close on it and I've dismantled a Pro all the way down to a stripped frame and damn near empty slide. The components have the same problem the regular M&P Does, and nothing will change that. Sure maybe after a few thousand rounds it'll smooth some things out, the natural wearing process may polish up some surfaces, but no matter how many rounds you have through it, the Striker block will not smooth out, the Sear wont change shape.

So I'm glad you like your M&P Pro, I however do not believe it is worth the money.

Tritium is Tritium, Sure, why not. I've never heard of Trijicon's having the Tritium fall out of them...I have heard of that being an issue on the Pro sights. Once again, I'm glad you like your pistol, I'm not knocking you or your gun.

I'm not denying that the gun may feel better the more rounds you put through it, however what I am NOT doing is calling it Junk.

I am not bashing you, or your gear, or whatever parts you may have or like, so show the same respect to myself, numerous other running APEX Parts, and APEX themselves.

Please tell me what is that makes APEX Parts junk? I am so very curious where this opinion comes from. Please tell me that sear which is made from heat treated A-2 tool steel is junk.

Regardless, back on Topic.

OP, it comes down to this, you have a lot of suggestions posted here, and a lot of them are M&P.

Not going to rip on H&K or on Sig Sauer, they both make fantastic pistols, I personally prefer to shoot an M&P.

So whether you land yourself with a Sig, HK, M&P or an M&P Pro. I hope that we've contributed some useful knowledge that you can take with you when purchasing your polymer pistol.

If you'd like to meet up at a range and put some rounds through my M&P, feel free to PM me, I'd be happy to meet up so you can have a feel for it.

Currently enjoying the M&P Pro9 (with Apex parts and a KKM barrel). The XDm 5.25 does have a better trigger out of the box than the M&P, but I don't like the grip as well. Tried the FNS at SHOT...impressed. The 5" version "is supposed" to be out soon which I hope to be trying out.

On that note! I did have an FNP-9 that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Only problem I find with FN Pistols is, they're very difficult to find off the shelf holsters for.

Loved the FNP though.

I have pulled the trigger on an Apexed M&P, I didn't like it. Thought it was waaay too light and not very crisp. Just my opinion. I've NEVER heard of the Tritium "falling?" out of an M&P sight- so don't know where or how many times that has happened- but I do guarantee that S&W would bend over backwards to fix it. I think too many people blame the trigger on a stock gun for their own inability to shoot the x-ring. Imho.

Well, perhaps that's how the shooter decided to set it up? Each gun is form fitted to its owner am I right?

You'll have to pull the trigger on mine and tell me what you think, I'd love to get together with you and shoot your Pro, perhaps we'll make believers out of each other.

Understand however, I have mine set-up at about 3.5lbs...I could step it up to 5 if you wanted, prior to range day.

The moral of the story here is, we both love our M&P's. :P

Hmmm. Seems to be tons of them out there, but they're selling on GB. Add in shipping and FFL and they're right at what I paid at my LGS.

Don't get me wrong, I like my $1,000 Sigs more, but the SP2022 is a great value, great shooting Polymer frame pistol.

Pick three and go shoot em. That's what I did. M&P was my favorite and I shot it the best, but really liked the XD. Didn't care for the grip angle on the glock. Bought the XD cause I got a great deal on it and have loved it ever since. I think it comes down to personal preference and application. My .02.

M&P for the budget conscious, or an HK P30 for those wanting to splurge. The trigger in the Pro model is a significant improvement over the regular M&P, but I prefer Apex trigger components in a competition pistol. After 9,000 rounds, my M&P is going strong. I did put a KKM barrel in it to improve its sub-par long range accuracy, and its still a notch below my P30 in that department. For me, Apex trigger components narrow the equipment gap between my M&P and the gaggle of STIs and other competition-oriented pistols I'm up against in local matches. For carry and HD, the Pro trigger is just fine. Not a fan of the standard M&P trigger for any application.
