View Full Version : Gander Mountain -1
bunch of lying POS's.
went in there today. there is a flyer that says their remington core loc ammo is on sale for $15.99 after $2 mail in rebate. included .243, .270, .308, 30-06 and 300 win mag.
at the entrance they had some ammo, but no 300 win mag, go to the back and there is a sign that again states all those calibers are on sale.
so I grab a couple boxes of 300 win mag, some magnum rifle primers and head to check-out.
Get to the counter and the ammo rings up 29.99, I tell her it is on sale for $17.99 and I need 2 mail in rebates. she looks at the flyer, and there it is right in front of her face, another cashier hears what I said comes over and also looks at it. then she calls the back to confirm and they tell her that 300 win mag is not included in the sale, it was a misprint.
I tell her there is a flyer in front of her face, a sign right above the ammo that clearly says 300 win mag on it and it says $15.99 after $2 mail in rebate. all she says is sorry sir, it was a misprint and we can't honor that price.
damn false advertising if you ask me. a flyer plus printed signs in the store....well take the damn things down, mark out the 300 win mag, take the ammo off the shelves....something.
and I made a pact I would never shop at gander mountain before this, the ONLY reason I was in there was I had 2 gift cards I needed to burn....I hate that damn store. Please never give them your business.
oh...and if anyone does go in today or tomorrow, I have to leave out of town and won't be able to head over there, but if you would take a picture of the sign in the back by the ammo that shows 300 win mag on it and the flyer and send them to me I would appreciate it. I'm going to make a stink to corporate about this.

Did you leave feedback on their facebook page, email the corp office, and ask for a manager?
While they are not required to honor "misprints" in sale flyers, retailers can find themselves in trouble for displaying a price on an item and then having it ring higher at the point of sale. This is an issue that is governed by the Colorado Weights & Measures department.
Its Gander, don't worry they will be out of business soon enough. Pretty soon we will have a Cabelas in Thornton to replace them.
I've seen flyer misprints before but it's usually all over the store that it was a misprint. The fact they had the same price up in the store does seem like false advertising to me. Any quality store would honor the price and correct the display ads.
That's when you know they're on the way out. When they're willing to lose a customer over $25 that was obviously their mistake.
Bass Pro did something similar to me when we were in the middle of purchasing new fly fishing gear. The $20 the manager wasn't willing to budge on cost them an immediate return of over $1K in items.
Leave some negative feedback on their Yelp page. That'll show them.
Their mistake. They should honor it.
Sent a customer feedback and requested a response. It was civil but with an underlying tone that I will push this further i I don't get some satisfaction out of it.

I'm not a big fan of Gander!! And Bass Pro!! They are 10% more expensive than Sportsmans Warehouse. And they don't have 1/2 the product!!
That's crap! If their ad says it they should honor it. I hate them for crap like that and their prices also.
My exp with them is their gunsmith. When one day I asked how much it would be for them to pin on a flash hider to an AR 14.5" upper and they said they can't do that it's illegal. I said I would just be bringing in the upper and for it to be legal to put on my lower I would need the flash hider pinned. They said if you brought it in I would be bringing in an illegal item. I told them they should look into their info more, I can own a 10.5" upper if I wanted to as long as it wasn't a complete rifle if I didn't have my papers and left. Haven't been there since.

Every time I go into Gander I come back out disappointed for one reason or another. I think once in 10 visits (each visit is desperation at the last minute that I need something) I actually find what I need.
Sportsman's Warehouse is much better, imo.
Ten years ago the were a fine store. They had selection, decent prices, and I could get it now. Now selection sucks. Went to buy a hat last spring, all they had was small and medium. Over the years they have less and less stuff. On the up side the isles are super wide, as it looks like they are arranging things to look like they have more than they do. The only down side to Cabella's is now I'll have to pay sales tax on mail order. It'll be worth it. Eff Gander.
But you have to love it when the guy handing you a shotgun is so high he can hardly talk and keeps getting distracted by the shiny guns. You just can't get that kind of service in most stores selling firearms. Not sure if he still works there but he was there on several visits in early 12'.
I never was impressed with them at all.
When some kid was trying to tell me the Mosin Nagants they had were the same opperating system as the sks!![Bang]

They have a gunsmith? Never even bothered to look that closely at that in their stores. Couple times in there (Thornton) realized how high priced they are and what really limited stuff they have.
I used to think it was a really cool store, remember when the firearms section was huge and you could touch almost everything (other than handguns and the $3K+) because they weren't behind a counter?
I remember when they had their spear fishing section. I didn't think it would do well in CO but I still wanted to buy a spear gun. :)
They've just gone downhill.
Every time I've been in gander, there has been at max 10 people. I can't imagine there business is doing well at that location at least. I bought an M&P compact for $450 and at gander they had one for $850!
Did you just leave ALL your stuff on the counter and walk the hell out?
I haven't given those cork soakers a bit of my money in years. I look forward to the day when they close the doors on that place.

no I had gift cards to burn. that was the only reason I went to that store. I know it is crappy store...but when I have gift cards I will not waste them. still got some primers at least.
update: still nothing from their management or my complaints. maybe they know they are on the way out?
Do your gift cards have an expiration date?

I knew I was done with gander when I saw 30 cal projectiles for $40. I drove to bass pro and got them for $25. My favorite was still the $600 used glock 21 with peeling grip tape and looked as though it had been run over a few times.

Gander is simply horrible. I spoke to a moron behind the gun counter once. I just walked out. No customers were there, he blew me off, when he answered my question he tried to fake gun knowledge and gave me complete BS... Ya, I ask a lot of questions I already know the answer. It's an old cop habit.
You know where the two guys that work at Gander (yes, they get employee discount) and live in Parker buy their ammo at? I do, and it isn't Gander.
Do your gift cards have an expiration date?
these ones did, they were from a pheasants forever promotion so I needed to get them used.
update: store manager called, apologized, honored the price and gave me a free gift card so I went and got a box of .300 win mag for free. still won't be going back, especially with cabelas opening up soon.
So at least they followed through, probably only because someone from corporate came down hard on them. end of the day they should have honored the price, especially when 3 different employees knew of the situation.

Next time just find a Gunsmith that is competent and familiar with the laws and regulations.

+1
It's under the Colorado Dept. of Agriculture.
Ordered a firearm online. wouldn't have but I couldn't find it anywhere but on the website.
It was delivered friday according to the fedex tracking number at 1408hrs. It is Monday and they are still telling me thety don't have it. They charged my CC twice. (no not just pending, a hard charge) and the manager put me on hold for 20 minutes without pressing the hold button.
I'm done with them forever. Still don't have my peice.
Don't you all mean GOUGER Mountain?

Surprizingly, the firearm I got was comparable, if not cheaper than most of the "out-of-stock" listings I was watching.

Except that you don't got it, yet.

Sad days.
They have my money though. Twice. Glad I could help by providing a free loan.

I've shopped there once or twice. Stopped by before to see ammo and stuff, their stuff is usually pretty over priced. even their Mosins are expensive.
