The original was so good for it's time. I don't think this will be as good, but i'm going to watch it! Pretty cool they remade it!

I watched the Australian version on DVD... 'Tomorrow: When the War Began'.. meh.. it was actually good. I was surprised.. it was good.
I have it on blu-ray if anyone wants to borrow..

I heard Filter music (hey man, nice shot - NIN ripoff). Odd because it's really a song about Budd Dwyer committing suicide at a press conference.

They were supposed to be Chinese but some studio exec was worried about how that would affect their other movie releases in China so they rewrote it to be North Korea after the movie finished shooting and digitally altered the markings.
The trailer looks stupid to me and Lea Thompson was my main reason for watching the first movie so .... meh.
Comes out on the 21rst. I will go see it on the 22nd. So I can leave my in-laws house early!![Coffee]

It's going to suck.. The original was and still is.. an awesome movie. They remade footloose and a bunch of other 80s flicks and almost all of them have been dogshit.

The original is one of my favorite movies of all time. The new one is going to suck, it will be a bunch of action/CG and the plot will be reduced to shit. Hollywood doesn't know how to make a good movie anymore.
Yeah, I don't know how a "reboot" of this movie is going to work in this day and age as opposed to being just an "homage" to the original. Times are different. We don't have the Cold War, nor is it fresh in our minds like it was when the original came out.
I loved the original. Saw it was on TV a couple weeks ago and sat down to watch it. It was more "cheesy" than I remember. While I still liked the concept and some of it, it wasn't as awesome as I remember...
I'm really curious to see how they make it so the N. Koreans invade the U.S. Just from my standpoint, just not believable that they would be invaders. Although if they have that caveat in the beginning that sets the tone like the original....

I'll see this, and hold any criticism until after... but my hopes won't be up, no Sheen and no Swayze, no C. Thomas Howell, no Lea Thompson or Jennifer Gray and Harry Dean Stanton was great as their dad! Won't even touch the original, but could be good as just an action flick... we shall f***ing see (in best Drill Sergeant impression)...

Yeah, it's happening finally. For those that have been keeping an eye on this (raises hand) it was filed three years ago and was originally supposed to be released a couple of summers ago. They had the rights to produce it a few years before that and began casting for it but when MGM filed bankruptcy the rights to this movie got caught up in that. They finally sorted it all so up until recently they couldn't even show trailers to a movie that had been ready for release for years. The funny part is that it will likely help them in the long run. Originally they casted no names for the movie. The main actor when on to play Thor in the movie w/the same name and the new Avengers movie so now he's kind of a big deal. If they were to cast him now it would've cost them probably 10x more. I think the movie actually looks decent and I was a big fan of the first one. I think they captured the spirit if the original movie and I loved the fist one. May not be quite as good as the original (those who expect it to be will be disappointed obviously) but who cares? The idea/plot alone are 4x better than anything else Hollywood is currently putting out so I'll pay to go see it. Even if it's half of the movie as the original it will still be the best movie of the year.

I went to see it last night. It wouldn't be able to keep up with the original (and it didn't), but it was still entertaining. Entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less.

I just got back from the theater, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, It served its purpose of being entertaining, it had some petty cool stuff in it, decent story, acting wasn't bad, SFX were over the top as expected.
I hope this movie puts the thought into non gun-owners heads that we're not all crazing for loading up, we're not zombie apocalypse fanatics, we just value our 2nd amendment rights and like to be prepared as well as outstanding Americans.
Hopefully it'll give people another scenario think about when they see people such as many of us building up Kits or modifying our weapons...perhaps some silly over the top movie will give them a different outlook on "Assault weapons"
