Since elk 3rd season has started so I need to buy my tag at DOW?

Not sure about buying at a DOW office but at retail locations you cannot buy big game tags after the season is open.

Not after the season has already begun. In fact, the DOW offices don't generally issue them at that point either unless you can identify extenuating circumstances (like a military member who just returned from overseas to late to get their license before the season started). This is supposed to cut down on poaching.

However, if it's going to happen, it can only happen at the DOW office, not from a license agent.

the dow office at lake pueblo will sell them to you, I have gotten them out there two or three times after the season started (last year was one of them) just go in the office in street clothes and ask for one,( I would not recommend going in there in hunting cloths they may think your a poacher and looking for a tag to make it legal) I have never had a problem, unless they just changed it this year.
