View Full Version : 'Dozens' of Colorado Romney Voters Claim Machines Changed Votes to Obama
Dozens of voters in Pueblo County, Colorado have claimed electronic voting machines have changed their votes for Mitt Romney to votes for President Barack Obama.
The Pueblo County Republican Party has asked the Colorado Secretary of State's office to investigate the matter.
A voter told KRDO Newschannel 13 (http://www.krdo.com/news/Pueblo-GOP-Machines-switched-Romney-votes-to-Obama/-/417220/17252566/-/qpcqxr/-/index.html) that a checkmark appeared next to Obama's name after she cast her vote for Romney.
"I wonder where my vote really counted," she stated.
Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder Gilbert Ortiz admitted he was aware of "fewer than ten instances" of votes being switched and conceded such errors have occurred since the county has used the electronic voting machines in 2006. He blamed those changes on human error.
Gilbert said voters had several chances to check their ballot before submitting it, but Pueblo Republican Chair Becky Mizel said the county's clerk office should, "at the very minimum," place a note on the door of polling places informing voters to lookout for potential problems with the voting machines.
Last week, the Republican National Committee sent letters to six states, asking them to more closely monitor electronic voting machines -- and to re-calibrate them -- on Election Day. Colorado was one of those six states.

More folks will probably be recruited into the "Acorn" force for guarding the polls tomorrow.[Rant1]
Tampering with voting machines, dead people voting... I guess desperate times call for desperate measures. What happens if Obummer wins and then they discover that there was rampant voter fraud? Are we able to throw out a challenge flag?

What I dont get is why the machines haven't been fixed if this has been a problem for 6 years.

It seems to me that once a machine if found to be a problem, it needs to be tossed into the dumpster. It's been soiled somehow. No chance it will f-up again if it's never used again.
Hmmmm, why doesn't it ever go the other way, where Obummer votes go to Romney? [Coffee]

The question is who it is a problem for. I don't know why you guys get so excited about fraudulent voting. It's too labor intensive. Electoral fraud is where it's at. If you don't believe that go ask our pal Senator Al Franken. During the recount the Dems kept discovering ballot boxes full of votes for him.
I don't believe it's all one way and one party doing it. Whoever has local control, controls the voting. The electronic voting machines have been proven to be easy to hack and some have no paper trail at all so they can't be questioned. This has been known for years but nobody fixes them.

Its not about who votes what, this machine changed this to that or "chaff".
Its about WHO counts the votes.

If voting could change the system it would be illegal. Besides, most of the machines can be remotely accessed via the internet anyway. Voting just makes people feel as if they actually made a difference in some way. Even if the votes were accurately counted, government officials known as electors are the only ones whose votes are actually valid. The popular vote just tells the electors how many people in their state wanted a particular candidate to win.

+1 for paper. Everybody should have a number that they vote with and after you do, you should be able to check the catalog of votes and find your number and verify your vote counted.
What MY simple little mind can't understand is WHY are there so damn many different ways to vote? I just don't understand why there isn't ONE way to vote, with ONE type of machine or ONE type of form, whatever, for every polling place in the entire USA???? WTF is this shit with electronic machines, pull-lever machines, push-button machines, fill-in-the-blank paper ballots, and every other kind of friggin' device they use?
Why isn't there a STANDARD? "This is a voting machine, and this is how you use it. Everybody uses the same kind of machine and the results are safe and predictable, and honest. Nobody can cheat, or vote twice, or jack with the results, etc." Why the Fuck isn't it done this way all over the country, for all kinds of voting?
Silly me, this just makes sense to me and seems like an honest and predictable way to do something this important. Guess this is why I don't make the big bucks.....

This is why people like you should make the big bucks- institute ideas like this and 9/10 problems go away... But someone out there is gumming up the machine. [Bang]

Its amazing the vote magically went to Obama instead of any if the numerous other parties. It is obviously being hacked or rigged. Now I wonder how many people didn't verify their vote and magically Obama got it.

When I went and voted the other day I walked up to the machine and asked the election judge what assurance I had that the machine would tally the vote accurately. She said not to worry and the electronic machine was accurate. I then asked her if she had seen the reports about machines in other states showing "anomalies". She said no and smiled.
I had her cancel my E-vote and went with a paper ballot instead.

The process needs revamping. I hate the politcal process of this nation. The election should be a direct election. Meanwhile back in the Ova office...

Good job.
She smiled b/c she knows the game is rigged.

What, like happened in the last election? All of the voter fraud and intimidation 4 years ago was quietly swept under the rug.
I had her cancel my E-vote and went with a paper ballot instead.
My wife, son and I all used paper ballots when we voted last Friday. Problem is that they are scanned by a computer and tallied. Once the paper ballot goes into the machine you don't get a receipt showing how your votes were tallied. It would be simple enough to program those to tally them a certain way - contrary to what was actually on their ballot.
I think the machines should print out a receipt for all votes so the voter KNOWS his/her votes were tallied accurately. But then again, there'd be nothing to keep the machine from showing a full tally different than what the individual tallies showed either.
The potential for corruption in the voting system is endless.

If its the Diebold machines (not what they had over here on the western slope) It's a giant windows CE tablet that you have to calibrate the touch screen on. I did tech support on them for a few elections down south.

Some places today have U.N. 'observers' that are supposedly intimidating voters... Check out the ACLJ articles about it. Remind me again why we need UN 'observers' looking over our shoulders as we vote?
Here's a link: Opposition to UN Election Monitors (http://aclj.org/us-constitution/jay-sekulow-opposition-growing-to-un-monitors-for-us-elections)
I'm glad I live in a location where the black panther wouldn't set foot- plus our voting place is the MVR office that has the JCSO Mountain Sub-Station just across the hall.... [Beer]

It's a fair payback for all the countries ex-pres Jiminy Carter polluted with his election monitoring. We're quite capable of screwing up our own elections without UN help.

And the other side of the coin:
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/watch-glitch-voting-machine-pennsylvania-171806481--election.html
An unexpected glitch almost caused one central Pennsylvania voter to cast his ballot for the wrong candidate, highlighting concerns about voter fraud on an already tense election day.
"I initially selected Obama but Romney was highlighted," writes Centralpavote on YouTube (http://youtu.be/QdpGd74DrBM). "I assumed it was being picky so I de-selected Romney and tried Obama again, this time more carefully, and still got Romney."

Almost every group that exists to 'stop' something, must somehow propagate the thing they're trying to stop, otherwise they'll eventually 'go out of business'! What would all these organizations do if they had to close their doors because there was no more racism, poverty, hate, prejudice, etc.?
It's part of what we know as 'institutionalism': where an organization exists for its own purposes, no longer existing for its original intention!
