I'm thinking of starting my own, and the format will be as follows with appropriate "fill-in-the-blanks"...

Intro:

"When I was first asked to review the new offering from ________ I was skeptical at first as to whether _______ could maintain their stellar reputation for quality firearms and still manage to create a gun this affordable."

Unboxing:

"I expected to find a cheap worthless piece of crap, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the fit and finish of this $300 gun was every bit as good (if not better) than my >$1000 __________. The edges were still rough and had unfinished machining burrs which snagged on my clothing. At first glance, this may appear to be a mark of poor quality - but upon further inspection I began to realize that this was a result of careful thought and planning. The rough edges definitely enhance positive retention in one's choice of concealment equipment!"

"It came with only one magazine which holds 5 rounds of .380 which is recognized the world over by police and special forces unit as a proven manstopper. Some may say that 6 rounds seems a bit on the low side as capacity goes, but I find that it's a benefit for weight reduction."

Firing Impressions:

"While normally a quality pistol is reviewed at ranges of 15-20 yds, I feel that this is excessive as this will primarily be a weapon for close-range tactical work. For the purposes of this review, testing was done offhand at ranges of 5 yards."

"I expected that the trigger would be shit, but was amazed to find that it was as good if not better than my $1000 custom __________. It had a 20 lb pull weight, but I'm told this will smooth out over time."

Accuracy

"Offhand, I was amazed to find that I was achieving groups of 24" at 5 yards, although my eyes aren't what they used to be. I imagine with a benchrest/vice, and a younger man's eyes, this could be tightened up somewhat. Still, for practical accuracy - this is totally acceptable. A few rounds did keyhole, but there were no malfunctions or stoppages of any kind in 6 rounds."

Bottom Line

"__________ continues their reputation for quality workmanship at amazingly affordable prices with this gun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a well made gun. In fact, I've traded out my _______ by SIG/HK/KIMBER for this little gem as my everyday carry piece!"

That's funny but sad at the same time.

I only read GUNS and American Handgunner - both are quality gunrags.

@sniper.... it's just my cliched hyperbolic rant about the predictability of most of the "reviews" in the major gun publications. Hard to find an article out there that doesn't incorporate at least one of those "can't say anything negative about an advertiser's gun" cliches. That's why I almost exclusively look for forum reviews from gun owners before I purchase something. Chuck Hawks seems to be the only major exception though... I think he's rock solid.

If I got to test guns for living and maybe get to keep some for free I wouldn't say anything bad either! :)
