View Full Version : Angry Morning.

Kid was up all night with some kind of allergy issue, which left him screaming and unconsolable. I wore a rut in the carpet pacing him back and forth. This morning, neither he nor I were interested in getting up. I let him sleep in for an hour before heading off to preschool. Made no difference. He was in full toy-tossing, daddy-hitting, scream-your-head-off bat shit crazy mode. And for good measure, we had a poo-splosion in the day care parking lot.

After 20 minutes of pure driving hell, I dropped him off at day care. Get a call from the wife. Other kid forgot her lunch money. I have $0.00 in cash, so it is off to the ATM and then the high school. Can't park anywhere at the high school, because kids can't park. There are three spaces 'available', except that in all three, a car is parked well over the line. Comically over.

Get into the Starbucks line, get about three cars deep into the drive-through lane, and everything comes to a halt. A few minutes later, a young girl comes around the lane to tell people she is stuck. There are about 10 cars in the captive lane, all of which would have to back out. Everyone is just looking at each other like 'now what?' I grit my teeth, get out of the truck, and push her car through the drive-through. We get up to the drive-thru exit, and the one guy in front of us at the window is busy chatting up the window girl! He finally gets the message, and pulls forward into the only available parking spot. I pushed the girls out of the drive-thru lane and into a handi-capped space down the parking lot. Not optimal, but at least out of the way.

Now there is a lot of honking going on, as apparently the folks who pulled into the drive-thru only see my unoccupied Titan blocking the path. I'm pretty sure one lady gave me the finger. On the plus side, apparently the lady a couple cars in front of me paid for my coffee, which I thought was a very nice gesture. Helped me keep the a-holes in perspective.

Finally, I get home. There are three houses going up around mine, and as usual, the contractors have parked in front of my house and on the curb directly opposite my driveway. This time, there is also a truck with a bunch of rafters hanging off the side. As I try to squeeze my Titan past this obstacle course, I hear a loud 'thunk', and see an over-hanging rafter tail connect with my mirror like a baseball bat. Driver's side glass shatters.

Now I am sitting in my house, afraid to go out and get struck by a meteor, afraid to stay inside and be involved in a gas explosion. Today is not my day!

I had one of those days yesterday, but it didn't involve kids. Just a lot of wrinkles in the universe around me... but by noon life was better. I hope today wraps up well for you.

Fuck it dude, let's go shooting. (Ala The Big Lebowski)

Hope your day gets better, I can't say I've never had the day from hell, but yours sounds pretty bad. At least you remained a good Samaritan and helped out the girl who's car got stuck. [Beer]

Just went out to vacuum the garage floor. Vacuum hose on the shop vac just collapsed. I cut off the collapsed part and figured I'd just have a shorter hose. Only then did I realize that the hose necks up at the couplings.

I think I am going back to bed for a while.

I'm still alive, and things seem to be tapering off. The magnitude of events is certainly diminishing. My latest irritation is when I went to do dishes and realized my daughter loaded up the dishwasher last night, put the detergent in, but forgot to turn it on.

Hey that sounds like a winner to me! It sure beats opening the cabinet to reach for a pint glass for your beer and realizing they're all dirty. Pressing the start button is easy [Beer]
