Had to take my wife's car in this morning to the tire shop to get a screw out of the thread. After it was done, I headed into work and turned on the radio. Since I listen to different music than she does, I started spinning the dial. Came across a station 102.1 that had some interesting old music on it. All of a sudden a news reader broke in from the BBC, and started talking about how brave British troops were beating back the evil Hun in North Africa. That led into a Jack Benny routine entertaining US troops in Europe that was hilarious. On the way home it was a radio skit with Humphrey Bogart as a gold prospector in Mexican mountains.
I love it... but not once did I hear a station ID. And I heard it from west to east Colorado Springs, so it was a bit more range than a low power FM station would be. I also can't find any likely entries in the FCC database for 102.1 anywhere near COS. There was enough static on the station to let me know it wasn't in town though.
Has anyone else heard this station or know where it may possibly be based out of?

Sounds like Pirate radio out of the greater greeley metropolis. Old time radio for todays youth.
I know when 90.5 (kcsu) is of the air i pick up some christen station out of CS.
I absolutely love radio from the 40's and 50's.
The Bogart skit was probably Lux Theater's production of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Great Bogart movie from the 40's.
I will listen for the radio station up here in the north metro area. A lot of this stuff is available on the internet, but it really should be hear on the radio.
Thanks for sharing.
I miss Boulder Free Radio. Darn FCC found the truck. Anything is better than Clear Channel.
When I lived in OH there was a public radio station, in Cincinnati, that played old radio shows (Grouch Marx, Jack Benny, Fribber McGee and Molly, etc). Fun stuff.

It's been a while since I've heard any pirate radio around, but you're most likely right. Makes sense though, they were most likely rebroadcasting one of the 40s nostalgia stations off XM/Sirius. I'm just wondering if anyone else has heard it or knows where it comes in as a strong signal. If it's legit, I'd love to see if it's available as streaming media.

I know, I was really worried that the Germans are on the roll again. I figure they already own most of Europe, so hearing that they rolled into North Africa again wasn't out of the question.

Reminds me of the movie "Final Countdown" after the Nimitz goes back in time.

Awesome movie and really brought about some interesting "what ifs"[Beer]
Who would you rather have in North Africa? Nazis or Jihadis?
I'm just sayin [ROFL1]
www.live365.com (http://www.ar-15.co/forums/www.live365.com) has some good stations. I'd bet they have some good vintage streaming.

Our president, even though he was a democrat, didn't piss and moan and wring his hands when we killed Nazis or made non-flattering movies about them.

you were listening to an actual broadcast from the 40s reflecting back off the sun of another galaxy due to a disturbance in space and time caused by a massive black hole
If you find out what station that was, let us know. I'd love to tune in.

They broadcast at 1430 AM and may be simulcast somewhere around 101 or 102 FM.
Every evening at 6PM they broadcast a program called When Radio Was. I was listening to a Poirot mystery last night at work. Here is the upcoming schedule for this show - http://www.studio1430.com/pages/2474819.php
Enjoy!

I've listened to that station before and it's not them. For one, they station ID regularly and I have still not heard a single station ID on this channel. Weird thing is, as of yesterday, the audio is silent, but they're still transmitting. So not sure if it's still someone messing around.
