So has anyone had any luck getting an elk yet? I've been out the past 3 days and have yet to see a critter. All the other hunters I have stopped and talked to say they haven't seen a thing either. Did all that scouting this summer just to find out they moved on to somewhere else. Anyone got any ideas on where the herds are?
where have you been hunting at?

By Bull Park and out by the Crags. Scouted both areas this summer and saw the elk around those areas but they are ghosts now.

My Dad has been out everyday and I've been able to sneak out a couple hours as well to meet up with him (he's got the tag though) All he saw was a few distant cows and a non-legal bull. It is a very bad year for hunting IMO. Way too dry and warm.

Yeah i've wondering if it was still to warm and dry for them to really move down lower yet.

Yeah my guess would be they are still high up and in the thick brush. Hopefully we get a cold front and it gets them moving!

Got my bull opening morning (first ever!) and got my buck Sunday. Looking for bear now. I'm up in 20 though.

Just got back from hunting 3rd season. Got my buck right away on opening day but didn't see any elk. Two separate camps next to us had a bull in each camp but other than that..nothing.

The area that I have hunted for years and have been sucessful is a poor place to be this year. Have seen zero elk and only 1 mule deer. Large ranch near by is crawling with both bells and cows. 3rd season has always been the best, just not this year.

Been talking to hunters at work all season. Everyone is saying they are all still at the timberline or a tad lower. Haven't gotten enough snow to push them down yet. That may change this weekend, but... Warm and dry weather really put a crimp in a lot of hunter's seasons.

We can only hope a couple days of colder weather will push them where we need them, otherwise there is going to be alot of unfilled tags.

My hunting buddy and I are heading out for 4th Rifle next week. I've got my fingers crossed for some good snow this weekend.
Been out twice now. Elk are still up high, or if low near water. Saw most of the elk in deep timber or on the private land adjacent to rivers. Season 1 was good, 2 and 3 have sucked bad. Hoping for 4th we get a good cold front.

Great pics! Although its been a while, it's an awesome sight to the elk moving through like that!
