Anyone have one? I got a bad taste in my mouth, similar to the dog sneaking up on the bed and shitting in my mouth.

Maybe a good strong strong strong cup of coffee and a new g21 might be the cure.

I'll predict this now... and there is a silver lining, when the next 4 years is over and people see the even bigger mess we're in, it'll pretty much ensure a democrat never gets elected again. [Beer]

Are you sure sniper7? Maybe he'll just declare himself the Prime Minister for life. Putin did something like that.

That sounds like a terrible dream. I knew at 2200 I wouldn't get much sleep, so I popped open a bottle of Wild Turkey. Slept like a baby- until I woke up this morning and realized that last night did actually happen. :(

Umm....yeah...if there are 47% of the poulation dependant on the government now, how many more will be in 4 years? Those people are never going vote for somebody who thinks that everone should work and earn their living. Somewhere along the line we have made the hard working man who does earn everything he has out to be the bad guy. All the parents who are to afraid to let their kids fail are teaching them this, and its certainly not going to get better in the next 4 years. Give Obama and his team credit, they went after the younger croud that honestly are not capable of making a truly infomed decision and they got them. The size of the population that is informed and does respect hard work and earning their living is shrinking, what really scares me is that generation will be gone in the next 10 years. Republicans are going to have to re-evaluate some of their beliefs and campaigning tactics to get back in there, but by the time they realize it, it may be too late.

I didn't say anything about Republicans getting elected thereafter... I suspect it's gonna be pretty much inevitable that people will elect a full-on socialist president in 2016.... [Bang]

^ This is the key.

It wasn't too long ago that some mining companies paid their employees in company money, instead of dollars. And they could only use company money to pay their rent on the company house and buy groceries in the company store, etc. The people had no real money and therefore no way to make a change. They couldn't up and move. They couldn't save money in the bank. They were dependent on their company to continue to provide for them. And therefore the company controlled them.

A similar thing will happen in the country now. More and more people are living on "company money" (government handouts, food stamps, medicare, etc.) Pretty soon, they won't have any other option but to depend on the government to keep giving them that stuff. They won't be able to make a change. Dependency will build, then people will have to make a choice; vote for people that will keep giving them the handouts they need to survive, or vote to stop the handouts and starve.

If government makes most of us dependent, then they can do whatever they want.

Flawed premise: What economic recovery? It's merely people have gotten used to the new normal.

What age groups are accounted for in this number? My first real job was when I was 14 but I'm guessing this doesn't include 14 year olds, right?

Just sad to see that.
Gas price went up ~10x from 60s
Rent and even housing price went up from 60s.
Tuition and other sky rocked, and we only had this little gain of median nominal wage from 60s? :(

The income from the graph is adjusted for inflation. Yes gas and rent and everything else have gone up, but to compare apples to apples you need to adjust those prices for inflation as well.

That said, our buying power had decreased since the 60's and has decreased over the last 4 years. With energy costs doubling prices of everything have had to increase. Couple that with the median income decreasing, we middle class are quickly disappearing. Welcome to the USSA!

He could executive order in himself for a third term. The new voting block won't question him doing so,as America will be so beat down that they've become dependent on the dole. More layoffs today, and more tomorrow, day after day, his base becomes larger due to no jobs being found, nor any created. We are so royaly fucked....:) enjoy Obama 2012 brought to you by Cialis for daiy us. If you can't afford your medication maybe AstraZeneca can help........

Well said.
I agree on PPP.
I also agree on adjusting inflations. Who knows which method of Price Index they used.

Yeah. I didn't read the horizontal (y) writing on the chart. :D
