View Full Version : Day Two: Workforce Vibe?

So here it is day two. What's going on out there in the workplace? Has anyone had "the meeting" yet? It seems that people are scared about their jobs. I track my website hits and since Monday they have really dropped off and the phone is not ringing like it usually does. Are people going to stop spending any money until thing level out and get better?

I'm sure if most of America is having those "meetings" things are going to come to a halt for awhile.

If this keeps up I think we will see a big jump in unemployment.

Pretty slow where I work. We usually brang in $2500 a day on average in the past, our best day ever was 12k this summer but for the last month our average has been only about $800 and I also had a black guy come in yesterday browsing around and finally he comes up with a 7 dollar item and he says I should give it to him since obama won, I said maybe you can just give me 7 dollars and I'll keep the item.

We've been slow at work since tuesday am. Whenever something big happens, I see a temporary shift in spending habits. I took tuesday for granted, as many were using their time for voting, not getting their cars fixed. It was slow yesterday though, I'm off today, so will see what friday and saturday brings. Where I work, we have quite a few people that are strictly office help, and already are kept to part time. Hopefully, after the initial shock sets in, we'll see traffic again. Then again, down the road it may start hitting us, as fewer have money to get auto repairs done. If there are any major cuts to the bases here in town, we're going to feel it bad.

Give it time... people needs to swallow the facts. It's business as usually on my retail one, but the financial world one is taking a pause.

We're not seeing business slow, mainly because the fires from earlier this year have scared ins. companies so much that a lot refuse to write in wooded areas. But thanks to Sandy we're probably going to see rates go up again.

Our company has been actively growing all year. 900 strong 100% Employee owned. We're the premier IT infrastructure provider in the country.

PM me if you have interest in the following and I'll provide the link(s). There's a referral program in place for many, but not all, of the technical positions. There were 30 referral hires in October. If it's big enough and you go through me instead of direct, I'll buy you a case of ammo, your choice of any .30 cal or less within reason, should you secure a position and I get the referral fee.

I was going to hire at least one other person or maybe two for six digit positions. I was going to have them start on January 1. I have decided to wait unil March at the earliest now.

If what they are saying about the price of gas and the recession that's coming, I want my department lean and everyone making a paycheck..

Don't know. Most likely it will delay hiring. If my company lays anyone off I am screwed since I will be the one to go...

I would like to hire someone, and was looking to start the process when it looked like Obummer was about to get fired... But with the entitlement mentality backed by Obamaphone, Obamacare, Obamathis, Obamathat... No thanks. I'd rather just make less money and not give someone else a job.
