Bug Reports for the New Site [Archive] - Colorado AR-15 Shooters Club Discussion Forums

Please post any bug reports for the new site to this thread. Please be as thorough and descriptive as you can. What operating system/mobile device, what version of software, and what browser. Also include any steps needed to reproduce the issue.

Before you post, please check to make sure that someone else hasn't already reported it. Of course if I have already edited a bug to say "fixed", and you notice the issues still, check again to make sure I didn't just fix it, and report that it is still causing you issues.

Also, please do not offer any suggestions or help to any users for any bugs already posted here. The only posts here should be unique bug reports.

I will update each post as I get to the issue.

I really like the new format, but.......... Is anyone else having problems logging in from a Droid HTC ?

I can get to the log in screen, but when I tap on the screen name or password line to enter the information, the touch pad keyboard comes up and immediately goes away. WTF ? I tried a few different times, but still the same thing. And I have no problems logging into other sites, so it is not my phone. And I never had a problem with the old format.

I have had trouble using the reply function also on a Droid. I am also having problems loading pics I just get a white hazy screen?

Ran into this earlier (the .php login box doesn't like the keyboard on my Droid X2).. Easiest way to fix is to go the the very bottom of the screen and choose the mobile theme. The site will come up and from there you can choose the login button. Login, say remember password, and then switch the theme back to the normal TF_Ideal. The cookie will stay saved and all is well.

Guys I'm getting an error message at the bottom of the page.
I'm thinking it's my browser not the forum-happens on a few other sites as well
I'm running xp pro service pack3 and I think its internet explorer 8.

[J EDIT: I get one JS error, for a component we are not using. It isn't affecting functionality, so it it a low priority fix. If you notice it actually affecting functionality please re-open. Otherwise I will get to it in the next week or two after the issues that are causing greif are settled. ]

It functions fine with the exception that when I click a picture and it opens I click the close button it wont close.Dunno if thats related to it or not.

I'm also having problems trying to load images. This happens about 3/4 of the time. I have restarted and still have the same issues.

Hit the Insert Image icon in the reply section.
Insert Image window comes up.
From URL, add an image from Url.
Paste url.
When I hit the OK button nothing happens.
This shows up in my working window "javascript:void(0)".

Ideas?

What browser and OS?

Happened to me repeatedly last night.. Closed the browsers several times - closed the pages many times. One time it worked.

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 - tried both with Firefox 16.0.2 and Chrome 23.0.1271.64

Easiest way to fix is to go the the very bottom of the screen and choose the mobile theme (Click where it says "TF_Ideal"). The site will come up and from there you can choose the login button. Login, say remember password, and then switch the theme back to the normal TF_Ideal. The cookie will stay saved and all is well.

You could always try the Tapatalk app. It works great on the site using my Android.

Cannot use the reply with quote button, the reply to thread button, the only thing that happens is the little circling dot thingy keeps going round and round.2.) I cannot open thumbnail attachments, all I get is a semitransparent blacked out screen.3.) after a bit of viewing this site I have to log off and log back in, or the page fails to reload and I get 1/2 blank pages.Their are other issues, but too many to detail. And the latest version of tapatalk will not support my devise with out a update, but the last update will not support my devise.

The edit, quick reply, etc are all part if vb 4.2... Must be some way to make them work.

What android and iOS versions?

any chance you can download the free chrome app on them and see if that makes a difference. It may narrow down my search a bit to know if it is the built I browser version or the OS version.

Yes the search box takes me to the large log in screen and the keypad stays up when entering screen name and password.As far as the iPad, most everything worked on Friday, and has been degrading since.

Blackberry:
Loads horrendously slow and "blocky" just sections of the page.
Very slow keyboard input.
Icons do not "highlight" so you don't know if the command took.
Very slow keyboard input.
Smilies very difficult to see and again, icons do not highlight.
Screw "Tapatalk"
Very slow page loading. Sux
Very disappointed compared to the old sight.
I have both soft and hard rebooted, purged the cache and cookieswith no change.
Really sucks that the keyboard inputs are 10-20 second delays. Definitely does not add to "your viewing experience".

I was asking if using the search box on the very top right works on the android. It has a similar title in the box effect like the login popup, but works a little differently.

I found a friend with a gen1 iPad I can test on. Hopefully. Make headway on that soon.

Does the iPhone stud get any better if you reboot the iPhone?

Suddenly sight functions with my iPad ?
HTC Droid can log in through search button only. All other buttons, reply, new thread ect.... Keypad will flash up and go off basically making my phone a read only device. All the Droid problems are present when I try using a Kindle fire.

Ok. Just to make sure I understand, when you are logged I the search box works from your droid. The box at the top right, not the advanced search link.

Ive narrowed down this issue to one of two things, the JavaScript alternate text, or the lightbox. The search uses a similar but different JavaScript method. I wrote the one for search, the login came with te base theme. If search works ill convert the login to use my code and that will either fix or pinpoint the issue to the lightbox.

On a good note,no more js error at the bottom of my browser page. :)
But still not able to close pictures with the close button,more of a minor annoyance not a major issue for me.

Some dramatic differences between the two, I can narrow it down a bit if you check that out.

Well J I tried all the different variants and still the same.
It could be on my end as well.Before the change of servers I wasn't able to open pictures,except by opening them in new window.
Dont stress it,not a big deal for me-unless it's an issue with others as well.

I honestly liked the look and feel of the old site but I realize change in inevitable :-)

I have noticed something that I can't really call a "problem" but several pages now get flagged as "inappropriate" and are blocked
by our corporate servers. Didn't happen before. (When I am looking on my lunch break of course :-)

For instance the "Post a picture of your latest purchase" thread If I click on page 158 it works fine, If I click on 159 it gets blocked? Happens on several threads. Some pages work, some get blocked? Didn't have that issue before the change

My laptop is having problems so I am trying to post using my Kindle Fire. I can log in fine and browse the site fine. The problem is posting. Now I'm using the iPhone to post this. Getting smaller.....

I can start a new thread and add a title but cannot type anyhing into the body of the post. No keyboard pops up to type. The wierd thing is that the smileys, post icons and tags box work fine.

The Kindle Fire worked great with the old site layout. Ideas?

Try switching the theme in the bottom left corner. Try simple blue. See how that works. It is lacking some of the super flashy options but works better for mobile users.

On a PC clear your cookies and cache. Should fix it up with either style.

Thanks man. I didn't have to try this yet, because my laptop came back to life a few hours after it STB. I'm amazed really. Thought it was totally done.

I was sitting here all pissed watching my old DVD pornos on TV (sheeesh), thinking "I should have backed up this and that porn stuff" and the laptop fires up out of the blue. Literally without me even touching it, it restarted itself! It was a few hours between spontaneous shutdown and spontaneous restart. Yeah, weird. To me anyway. Post upcoming in General.

Perhaps it will turn into a zombie laptop soon. I'm prepared. I figure my PBR pint glass can destroy this thing pretty quick if it goes commando on my ass. [Tooth]

Sounds like Firefox compatibility issues. I it can be fixed, J is the guy who can do it.

It can. Just got back in town now. Even I need a vacation from time to time.

Firefox interprets zindexes on divs differently than the others. I got all of the specific ones that were listed knocked out. Please be specific about which buttons are causing issues so I know where to look. There are a lot of them.

If anything is prohibitive to your use of the site, switch to the simple blue theme at the bottom left corner as a work on fixing them. It is set up in a way to maximize compatibility.

I can navigate pretty good in all modes on my Droid 2, but can't post. In full site mode, I get all the buttons and boxes for the quick and advanced replies, but the actual text field is one line tall and will not allow me to enter data. In mobile mode, I can hit reply and type a message, but when I hit the posting button, the screen refreshes and does not actually post. Perfectly willing to accept that it is user error on my end.

Still a pain for Blackberry. Freeze ups, double posts, phantom screens and sloooooooow, even with simple blue.

Can the "smiles". Be enlarged? Very difficult to see on a phone and very difficult to accurately tap on one.

Sorry for the delay. It's because I couldn't post a reply on my cellphone [/irony].

Anyways, simple blue didn't work for me either. I did press a bunch of buttons, though. I can press all the formatting buttons on the top of the reply box. I can insert smilies and links. Reply with quote auto-populates the text box with the quote. However, I cannot click in the text field and select or type any characters. It is probably good for everyone that I cannot instantly reply with my stream of consciousness on every thread. Having to wait until I get home and type stuff allows laziness to filter my natural excesses.

Might be something wrong with the search function. Was trying to look up comments about a topic, and searched on M1A. No hits, even though there is one listed in the trading post with M1A in the title. Tried both upper and lower case for search.

Any reports of WYSWIG editor problems with Chrome?

 

I'm having all kinds of weird issues. formatting is wacky

Enter shows a space, but doesnt insert any return

Smiley panel on right side in advanced editor doesn't do anything. pop-up menu does.

Spell check doesn't work - but that may just be Chrome.

 

WinXP, Chrome Version 24.0.1312.52 m Same issue in my Win7 host You can also see that any punctuation in the original post or subsequent editing is slaughtered into code...

 

I changed the prefs from simple blue I was using - due to image upload button issues with Firefox - back to default and the same issue.

 

Simple editor is the culprit inserting the html paragraph break codes

Getting a "database error" page about every other time I try to load a page from the forums. Kept happening with the post whore thread to start, but then I realized it was happening for all ar-15.co domain addresses.

I have deleted a private message and it still pops up in notifications.
I have tried logging out of the site,clearing cookies and rebooting my system .
I'm running xp pro with service pack 3 on this machine and just updated java-could that be an issue?

Well J I think the system restore fixed it.
Seems like there were some orphan files from the java update causing conflicts.(re installed java)

The whole 70.208.144.xx range was blocked on July 27th when someone suspected of being a spammer logged in from that IP range. It traces to a Verizon connection in Locust Grove, VA. When folks use Verizon connections in Western CO, it traces back to something more local.

I've un-blocked that range.

My ability to insert images from a URL is intermittent when using safari on my iPad. Actually, I'd say its successful about one in ten tries. I paste the URL, then hit OK, the java window goes away, but my image is rarely placed into the REPLY box.

anybody know a workaround?

Sounds like a browser cache issue to me. Have you tried logging off the site, clearing your browsers cache, then logging back in to see if anything changes?

Good point. There is a way to filter what you view in different forums/threads. The default is to only show activity within the last month. I don't recall off the top of my head how to change the view to display everything and a few other options, like the last 6 months.
ETA: Found it. See below.

Could this be what's happening?

ETA: If this is what's happening, you can edit your General Settings. At the top of the page, under the tabs for FORUM, INFO HUB, ARTICLES & BLOGS, you will see "FAQ Calendar Community Forum Actions....". If you click on "Forum Actions", a drop-down menu will appear. From here, select "General Settings" (See the first image below).

Once you select General Settings, another page will open. If you scroll down to the Thread Display Options section, and click on the down arrow of the options box for Default Thread Age Cut Off, you will see all of the options available. (See the second image below)

If this the issue, then this is where you can fix it. If it isn't the issue and it is just not refreshing updates, then it is definitely associated to your system/OS/browser. In this case I'd only be able to possibly assist by knowing what OS and browser you are using. In the short term I'd recommend trying a different browser to see if the problem remains.
