Sounds interesting and at $200, if thats what it really sells for, its pretty cheap. However, it seems a little gimmicky. And with swapping out the sights (top rail), I kind of wonder what kind of accuracy it has.

I for one definitely do NOT see a member of SWAT throwing one on their SBR and using it as a backup to their main weapon.

Interesting, but correct me if I am wrong here. Wouldn't attaching a stock to it make it an SBR. This could back fire on some guy who does not understand the law.

I reededed the artikle and I got smerter...

But the firearm itself is just one aspect of the ZiP platform. It has a modular top-strap that can be fit with different accessories, ranging from standard dovetail sights to red dot mounts and even an SBR adapter, which lets you strap your ZiP to a rifle's railed handguard—because it has a buttstock and is meant to be fired with two hands but a barrel length less than 16 inches, it is an SBR and requires a tax stamp and all that—and the top-straps are just one part of the modular system.

What's the point? Hard to handle by itself; you need to make it an SBR to use the stocks; and I think there are better choices to fall back on if my rifle's empty.

admission, I did not read the article, I just watched the video.

Doesn't look terribly useful to me. Looks VERY awkward to handle as a pistol, and requires a wait and a tax stamp to SBR as a survival rifle. or attach to your ...rifle? I guess I could see slinging it under an S-12 to have something a bit more subtle than slugs.

oh wait... even more legal concern. So by attaching it to the rail of the other rifle does that automatically make it an SBR? I would say it puts the owner at risk of some anti gun loon going on a crusade at his expense.

Food for thought.

Looks to be a very space-age looking piece of garbage. I want two of em!

Yes, the legality of it seems very odd, however it is supposed to be hitting the market by the end of December 2012.

Frankly, I don't see the point of attaching it to a rifle. The video showed the guy shooting 2-3rds of 5.56, then a round of .22lr. What was the point of that? Is ammo really getting so expensive that our SWAT/Mil/whoever will be swapping 5.56 for .22lr when shooting? [Eek3]

Looks to me like the 21st century version of the Liberator Pistol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FP-45_Liberator).
