My phone is my only source for online anything and I went from iPhone to the Galaxy S3 and absolutely love this phone!! Only gripe is the battery sucks but again only way I can use the internet and I use it all day for work. A buddy has thr razor maxx but likes his wife's GS3 better.

I have the RAZR maxx HD and love it. The battery lasts at least twice as long as any other smart phone I've had. But I've never used an S3. I would recommend fondling them both before you decide.

ill be the first to recommend a windows phone 8 i just got mine the other day had a windows phone 7 previously. Windows phones are great for staying in contact with people and doing business stuff on it. its not so great for games/ fun apps. i suggest going to the store and playing around with one its very easy to navigate once you get the hang of it.

Don't I remember you posting something on FB about your slick iPhone dying on you.

Sparky, samsung kicks ass. I have the skyrocket(SII) and it my business phone. It runs everything. I drool over that SIII.

Battery life claims by vendors are not necessarily realistic.

I absolutely HATE and despise my Blackberry now after being on them for forever. I'm not a heavy app user, so talk time and standby time are important for me. I'm still looking at real world reviews, but for now, for me, I still think I'm looking at going with the Razor Maxx HD (corporate Verizon account).

The thread got me looking again, and I ust can't bring myself to go so big on a phone when I already hump around a tablet and a Laptop. I need something that I can drop in a shirt pocket or hip holster. Now looking at the Razr M. Still monstrously large compared to a BB, but sees more manageable.

I've had the RAZR Maxx HD for about 5 days now.I unplug my phone at about 6am, don't talk a lot throughout the day, a few texts, mostly internet and I leave bluetooth, GPS and WiFi on all the time whether I use it or not. At work I get horrible reception, so my phone is constantly trying to find a network, switching between no signal, basic data, 3G, and 4G which is a huge drain on the battery. At about 10pm I still have between 33-40% battery life left (whereas on my old HTC T-bolt the battery would be dead by 4pm). When they say the RAZR Maxx HD battery last all day long and then some, they mean it.

The only gripe I have right now is that it doesn't have flash player. But I read something about flash player going away and websites replacing it with HTML5 (which, being somewhat computer illiterate, I don't really understand). But that is using Google Chrome. You can use Firefox, and maybe flash will work. I don't know. I haven't messed with that yet.

Other than that issue, the RAZR Maxx HD is awesome. And it should be getting Android 4.1 by the end of the year. I think the RAZR M is starting to get the upgrade now. The Maxx HD is big, but it fits in a pocket just fine. It is thin, feels solid, and is supposed to be somewhat water repellent.

Go talk to a verizon rep. It might be cost effective to add another line with the phone you want, downgrade you current phone to a non-smart phone, and let it expire. Or something to that effect. I don't know, just a thought.

I have a Galaxy SII and love it. I would love the S3. But I can live with the S2 till my contract is up. Which I am sure the S4 will be out then. lol I am already on 4.0 and if you are computer literate you can follow the steps to put a custom ROM on using any of the tutorials from this site. http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php Many of the custom ROMs are more efficient which will increase your battery life. Also turning off bluetooth, GPS and other things you don't need that second will drastically improve the battery life of the phone. I would also advise having a task manager installed that can kill all the background apps that drain battery. I can get over a day and a half with my phone. Granted if I use it as a WIFI hotspot it will drain it fast.

+1 For the Galaxy S3. The battery is decent... I work 12 hour shifts, and it usually lasts about 9 hours worth of frequent usage. The screen is huge, and it seems pretty bug-free.

I flashed my phone with CleanRom and I took a highend phone from Verizon and flashed it over to the cricket network all by myself. Its way better than anything they have on the shelves and its cheaper than Verizon. I don't get 4g speed but my phone is ready when Cricket gets it going on their end. Android 4.1

Why should he? I believe he was pretty clear that he wanted no iPhones. BTW, just about any phone today would be a significant upgrade from you BB Storm so that's not a useful comparison based on the phones the OP is asking about.

Sparky, you can't go wrong with either phone. Go try them out and see which one works best for YOU. Personally, I would go with the Moto phone because of battery life and I'm a big fan of that SGS3.

I'd go with the Razr Maxx HD. When I went to Verizon for my upgrade, I was told by a couple different reps (at different stores) that:

1) Go with the S3 if you want the better camera, but the Razr Maxx HD for everything else.

2) They have had a consistent number of the S3's returned for warranty, but no issues with the Razr Maxx HD.

Additionally, the extra battery life with the Maxx HD and the fact that it doesn't feel like I'll crush it just by holding it with a firm grip help make my decision.

I upgraded from the T-Bolt as well. I read in reviews that the camera on the RAZR wasn't as good as others, but I don't think they're any worse than the T-Bolt. I am by no means an expert, though.

The camera hardware on the newest generation phones is pretty similar and save for a few minor differences that the average user would never notice even if they looked for it it's not worth basing your phone decision on. The camera software has a few more differences and would be a larger consideration but honestly, don't base your next phone purchase on that.

The camera on the Razr Maxx HD will blow away the Thunderbolt camera (I used to have one as well). I don't look at the camera as being an inferior one - it's good enough for everyday use in my opinion.

Thanks. I have also heard that the S3 has more connection problems. I would trade camera for connectivity anyday. I also need to sync my outlook contacts. How easy is it with the S3 or Maxx HD?

Sync your contacts with Google Gmail account and everything will transfer back to your new phone when its activated.
As far as syncing the phone with outlook. I don't know but I bet a google search will turn up what you need.

A lot of these guys don't know or want to know how to flash a ROM onto a phone. They are happy with basic service. However, if you can't leave well enough alone. I rooted my phone then flashed it to cricket service and install a CleanRom OS. I am pleased with myself. Still can't get MMS to work sending or receiving pictures. But I'm getting closer.

Rooting is best used for removing bloatware that sucks your battery dry and after a while most people want it gone. I would suggest getting the S3 and if you can't remove the bloatware the easy way there is always a way around that. Twitter for example. I don't use it nor do I need 3 programs running in the background monitoring it. But the hardware is what you are looking at to be the best. The razor phones seem awesome but it was deal breaker for me when the screen wasn't HD and I couldn't change the battery when it dies. But if the new one Razor HD is 720p I suppose you could get a year or 2 of use out of it before it craps out on you.
I like Android Gingerbread too. Why? Its, because you can tether your phone for your laptop with no problems and Icecream Sandwich seems to be made to lock down your phone and a few useless visual things. But the CleanRom was a stripped down version of ICS and seems to be a better version with handy little tools.
I guess just try out your phone and love it and when it gets old you can reinvent it later on with ROMS and Rooting it.
