Just a bag, we first bought an EddieBauer diaper bag from babies r us. After it was stolen (yes wife left it on a seat while at an indoor play park and someone snagged it) then we just used a standard backpack, cheaper. [Coffee]

Carry the baby. Let your wife carry the diaper bag :). When my youngest was born in 2007 they used to make a backpack that was a diaper bag.
Wife bought me a 5.11 tactical messenger bag, seems to work pretty good.
Here is the one I chose when ours was born 10 months ago. It had to be big enough to fit everything we needed, not ugly in the wife's opinion, and something I would carry.
Skip Hop Bento Bag (Olive) (http://www.amazon.com/Skip-Hop-Bento-Diaper-Black/dp/B0047EASLG)

Its not cheap. But its really well made and will last a damn long time.
In my opinion, I have no problem carrying the diaper bag, changing diapers, etc, etc, etc. I feel like I am more of a man because I have no problem doing it. Not less like some men think. I am FAR from being metro. I am plenty red-neck.

There was a post awhile back from a member using a tactical bag repurposed to a diaper carrier. The Magazine pockets would fit 30oz bottles with baby reloaders (nipples) attached......[ROFL1]

If I had to do it over again I would forget all that messy stuff. Just get a backpack style pressure washer and stick some Velcro on it. Vacuum packed diapers wind up about 4"X6" so you can stick about 9 of them on the washer.
Tear off the old one, pressure wash and rip the tactical diaper off the back using pre-installed Para cord pulls. You will be on your way even in the most shitty urban situation in seconds and be the envy of those soccer moms that spent $$$ lugging around all that junk just to change a diaper. http://excoboard.com/forums/26584/user/231465/306309.gif (http://excoboard.com/exco/smilies.php?boardid=26584#) http://excoboard.com/forums/26584/user/231465/303442.gif (http://excoboard.com/exco/smilies.php?boardid=26584#)

We used the Eddie Bauer bag as well. Although it never got stolen nor did I pick it up at an indoor play park. It worked great for both of our kids.

I rock a Maxepedition Sitka Gearslinger (http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/Sitka-Gearslinger-2p926.htm) as my man bag and just tossed in the necessities when I was taking my son out for the day. A few diapers, slim package of wipes, a couple onesies, a few plastic bags and formula.
I was gonna get a maxpedition bag but found a nice bag at the GoLite store and for $20 on sale I bought two!!

Maxpedition Versapak for me.

It's now my carry-on bag and mini BOB. I bought it specifically so I could have both hands free without shrugging into an actual backpack. I'd do it again.
Extreme Gear Labs. Good stuff made here in Colorado by a shooter.
+1. Been through three kids, hopefully I'll get to keep it afterwards as me EDC. Like new still, and we put it through the wringer.

Have they updated their site? What is it? Best I can tell you have to buy their gear from a 3rd party

Alice pack. Outside pockets for the stuff you use frequently and nicely compartmentalized inside.

Traded the XD off and gave the Ruger to Geo... Now I pack a Sig and a Kimber
Why not just use a backpack? That's what I do.

Just let the kid run around naked, that's what my great-grandmother used to do with my dad. She said he needed to get the sun on his body. She was from the old country. [ROFL1]
i use the ever tough whinny the pooh dipper bag from wal-mart ...at least its brown and green [Tooth]

Wife bought me the diaper dude late in her pregnancy.

At first I wasn't too thrilled (camo diaper bag just screams trying too hard to me) but it's grown on me. One big central pocket, 3 outside pockets with zippers big enough to fit some stuff, and (if you wear it across your body) a pocket that's held up against your body that is great to hold a pistol if you're feeling too lazy to put your belt and holster (and for the first couple months there was a lot of that.)
Carry her bottle stuff, diapers, wipes, change of clothes (for her and for me - she's had a blowout in the wrap before and working with a poop-covered shirt is no fun) and a blanket. HSLD.

YES!
As a Hint for the new Dads, Pack yourself a Polo or a T-Shirt in the bag... There will be a day when you will need it.

I never got the poo, but did get the fountain of youth a few times with my son.

This is the one that my wife and I have and I like it. I will say now that my boy is turning 1 next week...get function over fashion. I'd carry a pink one with lace and frilly flowers and crap if I could carry all of his stuff and my Sig in there [ROFL1]

We just picked up an Osprey Flapjack Courier bag yesterday at JAX for our diaper bag.
Whether it will work or not, I have no idea - this is our first kid, and we have no idea what we're doing. [Tooth]

We love our other Osprey bags - made right here in CO, and they carry a kickass lifetime warranty, so if we ever have a problem with them, they get repaired or replaced for free.

My best advice is to get whatever the wife wants. She will be using it more then you and your once a week excursions with the kid.
Dont waste your money on a bag (buy ammo instead). No one has every said shit to me or looked at me funny for holding my infant daughter and
some gay looking pink bag. We all know Im a badass since Im taking care of my daughter. [M2]

Just get any cheap bag big enough to hold what you need and a compartment or two for special stuff like stuff for diaper rash. It's been a long time since I had to do it but I remember looking like the Walking Dead zombies running on way too little sleep. During a bad colic attack my wife and I lost two bags. We ended up keeping two going. One to go places and spare so we'd never be without.

That's awesome!! FTW
Not really a backpack kinda guy unless necessary. I like the versapack idea - Fatboy looks small but the jumbo looks like some room to grow into.

I'm with DD on this one. Instead of being concerned about having a manly bag, look it as an opportunity to hedge your play in the future. The one with the bag makes the trip to the changing station. If you choose to have a manly looking bag, then you carry the bag... Nothing good can come from this. Get the bag you wife LOVES. then she get's left carrying the bag and subsequently taking the trips to the changing station.
This will work for a while. Then she will catch on. The first time she balks and you end up taking the bag to the changing station, THEN you get a manly bag because the jig is up. 14 years of marriage and three kids under my belt. Trust me on this one, the key to a quality long term marriage is to work the angles until they are not there and then finding the next one. It's the only way to survive the tyranny.[Coffee]
I have 3 daughters and so far I havent given a rats ass about what the bag looked like I think some folks are just terrified that they might look "gay" carrying a bag with flowers or whatever on it. Man up nancies and if thats to hard buy one of these apply it to your vagina and zip it up. http://www.stuff4sewing.com/black-unique-invisible-zipper-9-309-580.html?CAWELAID=600775968&gclid=CKih_5yFyrMCFQpgMgodhUgAiQ
SA Friday - I hear you and your assumption of the wife having the bag she loves - changing - angles - trust you and hear you loud and clear. [Coffee]
Lifeon2 - In terms of nancies and vaginas...We might have taken the question IE "mans style baby bag" to an extreme. I was looking for advice on what's worked for folks w/ baby more for those solo ventures. You know, looks do matter and I'm not looking for "manly" more function over fashion. I figured I'd have my hands full....
I will ask since you offered your sewing expertise...suggestions on where to find curtains?[ROFL1]
I got a camo one from bass pro. Works quite well. A backpack is just as good or better though. Best thing to buy is a plastic jar that holds three servings of formula and bring a couple bottles.
Joanne fabrics .......real men sew .....and they have some lovely crushed velvets.

LOL - Thanks man!! That they do!
I look at it slightly differently....I go for the "deer in headlights" look, carry an old transparent King Soopers/Sportsmans Warehouse plastic bag, a roll of blue shop towels, Vaseline, and a bottle 409 -fumble around far more than you need to, drop things etc. etc.. If nothing else you will find success in a) having many people offer to help and you can get poo all over their fancy new stuff and b) have a good kit of supplies for making a fire if you need to (or perhaps to burn the occasional near nerve-gas diaper) or c) just for the fun looks you get. Who knows, someone may slip you a $50 for a new bag?
$$$ strapped.
I will stick with Polka dot baby diaper bags. :D
