View Full Version : Kydex IWB Holsters
Anybody tried one, such as the Bladetech? It seems like they would be uncomfortable because kydex is hard. But maybe it would be ok and I'm sure kydex is lighter than leather, I don't know?
Longhorn Holsters (A partner on this site) uses Kydex on all of this Holsters with the leather backplate. Not sure if I would be able to pull off an all Kydex one myself. I know that my Longhorns are very comfortable, especially once I get the leather all broken in.
Comp-Tac Infidel is worth looking into. I don't think any all-kydex holster is going to compare to a Milt Sparks VM-2 or an Alessi PCH but those ultra-comfy leather holsters don't have the ability to adjust retention via allen wrench like the all-kydex ones. I guess the 50/50 (leather next to body, kydex on the far side) holsters would be a happy medium (M-Tac, etc).

I have been wearing a Comp-Tac Infidel daily for about 7 years.

I really like the DeSantis Scorpion for a full kydex IWB.
I've worn a Blade Tech Ultimate Concealment and it's suprisingly comfortable, I wear a tshirt under it because the plastic sticks to your skin. There's a heavy 1911 in mine ... you get used to it/
I have tried one all-Kydex and it wasn't the most comfortable holster in the world. It had the tendency to pinch. I now use an all-leather IWB though I would imagine that the hybrid holsters (Kydex/Leather) have got to be just as comfortable.
I use a galco King Tuck (1911) with a lightweight Commander on a daily basis. It's pretty comfortable.
I use a Galco Kydex IWB for my Glock- I love it... smooth, comforting (not to be confused with comfortable, but it isn't uncomfortable), easy to manage, and secure! [Beer]

I made an IWB tuckable similar to: http://www.multiholsters.com/inside.htm with .060 kydex and it is more comfortable than my don hume. Most likely because it is thinner than the leather. (used with Kahr CW9)

I use a Raven all kydex IWB holster all the time. Full size Glock with a light. I think it's comfortable, but I carry in front.

The Bladetech UCH is a good choice.

I've used several different IWB holsters, kydex and leather, and have settled on the Kytac Braveheart, http://www.kytac.com/. These holsters are built to exacting standards by a top competitor and I couldn't be happier. They take a bit of a wait to get sometime, but you can actually call the owner/designer Dave and discuss it with him. He loves to share and is familiar with all the different types out there.
My EDC is a Colt Defender 3" in .45 acp and this holster just works. In addition to the comfort, the draw is adjustable and effortless. The one thing I just didn't like about the leather is that the draw was "sticky" compared to the kydex. The Kytac just seems to want to "give" the weapon to on the draw and I love that. Reholstering is also effortless. Check 'em out!

I have CompTac or BladeTech IWB kydex holsters for all of my semis. They work great. For me.
Will it work for you? Try it and find out. Buy quality, and you can always sell it if you don't like it.
