Ok, so I go to the gun store for the first time in like a month or two. I figure that with a absence of that magnitude there's got to be something fun and exciting.
I bring $100.
I payed $50 for this. :D :D :D Tis' a Yugo M48, I don't know what the date is, but the soldier carved his name into the stock. :D The bolt is pitted, and much rougher than my Polish Mauser. The barrel is pitted quite a bit, but certainly not un-shootable. :D

Wolverine nice find. I'm glad your happy with the rifle. We got it in just the day before you got it. With the markings and price I don't think it would have lasted long. Next time your in the shop let us know how it shoots.

I have a friend who has a Turkish Mauser with a rough barrel and that thing shoots. He easily hits the gongs at 200 yards and he gets close to the 500 yard gong. With Turk it is more of a function of the sights vs. the barrel at 500.

Thanks for stopping in.

Yes guilty as charged.

Thanks for the link. Your carbine looks to be in better condition than mine at least the wood anyway. That M1 Garand is awesome how long did it take to refinish the stock?

I have a CMP Springfield Garand that needs some TLC on the stock. It is rough enough and dirty enough I don't think refinishing it is going to hurt the value or the history.

I bought the Garand at the gun show last year, it came refinished. There were only three Garands at the show, the Springfield I bought, a H&R, and a Springfield that was purdy worn.... really nice looking really. I wanted to get that one, but I inserted a 30-06' into the muzzle and the bullet sank all the way to the muzzle, so the muzzle wear was really bad.

I figured my Garands muzzle wear out to 1.5, which isn't bad. The Garand was rebarreled, the receiver is 2.8mil and the barrel is 6mil.

Mine looks too new...... I am almost tempted to take some sand paper to it and "restore" it. :D
