Yeah, right.

Everyday carry: What do you carry, and WHY? If you could make a change, would you, and what would it be? Assume that your budget is $1000 plus your current EDC as a trade.[Twist]

My current EDC is a Gen3 G26, in a Liberty tuckable. Fairly happy with this setup at the moment, but still not perfect. I'm not crazy about the thickness, as it conceals well, but isn't the most comfortable setup, and I'd like rapid restrike capability.

Looking at the Sig P290 RS as a possible replacement.

Go, and feel free to trash talk other's decisions...[ROFL1]

Walther P99, first version with second strike capability w/out needing to rack the slide. Light, 16rds of 124jhp & decocker.
2nd is my 229R
For compact in semi it's the M&Pc (9mm)
OR my fav
S&W 638 38spl +P

I'd make no changes what so ever, Unless i scored on a 2" 357. I gave my last one to our daughter. The Speed 6 is a very nice but not an all day carry piece.
YMMV.

I've been wanting a P229DAK 9mm for daily carry with a liberty holster to replace my current Gen3 G22 I carry with a Galco Kydex IWB. I also recently started looking into carrying a Walther PPK .380... yes, I want to be Bond, James Bond... [Coffee]

I have several CCW setups, but almost always carry my gen3 Glock 19 in a Galco king tuck or crossbreed supertuck. It's loaded 15+1 with 124gr golden sabre JHP's and I always have at least 1, 17rd mag as a reload. As "standard" as the g19 is, I actually grew in to it. The reasons I carry it are many, but in short:

1. I have very natural site alignment when bringing it to eye-level, and shoot it very well. This is absolutely required of any ccw rig as far as I'm concerned.
2. The speed and accuracy of followup shots is better (for me) in 9mm than .45ACP. I consider more holes, fast to be better than less holes, slow. (ok, pun intended [Coffee] )
3. 15+1 shots without having to reload is only a hair shy of "twice as good" as 8+1 I get in my M&P45c or 1911's.
4. It's as reliable as any gun I've ever owned, but it's also relatively inexpensive. If I ever have the misfortune of being in a defensive shooting and lose my gun to the evidence locker, I'd rather it not be a $1000+ firearm.
5. It has night sites.
6. It does not have any thumb safeties to trip me up when in a high-stress, life or death situation.
7. While "thicker" than other 9's, it's a solid combination of capacity and concealability IMO.

So that's why I carry what I do.

Although it has no second strike capability, I am head over heels in love with my XDm .45 Compact. Regardless of price, it is my favorite carry gun. It conceals just fine in my liberty holster and is comfy. The flush mag is 9+1, and I carry a second mag that holds 13 rounds. I don't know why, but I've just always shot best with .45. That's why I went with that over the smaller calibers.

I carry a walther P99 first generation. I like the second strike capability but what I really like is the decocker. It makes the first trigger pull very deliberate, than every shot after has a nice easy pull. I Carry it in a crossbreed super tuck. As comfortable as it can be for IWB I suppose.

ruger sp101 .357 3" in a simply rugged holster. Not tacticool but it suits me fine, although i really like my little walther p22 and have been thinking about trying a pk380 for ccw.

I have a G19 with a Crossbreed Supertuck, but I would like to augment it in the summer months with a Kahr PM9. I have a Diamondback DB9, and it currently fills the ultracompact 9mm role for me, but it is not as refined as the Kahr and night sights are not a factory option, so I had to paint them on. Everyone seems to have lots of problems with their DB9s, but I seem to have gotten lucky with mine. I can go through 50rds without any problems. It doesn't feed ammo with a longer OAL very well, so I use Hornady Critical Defense or Federal 115gr fmj rn in it and it runs like a top. Still snappy as hell, but I guess that's what happens when the gun only weighs 11 ounces.

My requirements for a carry gun:
1. Must have night sights
2. Must be reliable in my hands (I don't care if someone else is limp-wristing or stove-piping every other round. If it works for me, then it's GTG)
3. Must be in 9mm. This is what I have stocked up on, this is what I practice with, this is what I am accustomed to. 9mm is cheaper to practice with, lighter to carry, and more compact than .40 or .45.
4. Must not have unusual safeties, weird magazine releases, or other things that are "out of the ordinary" for me.

I am very hesitant to go with anything smaller than 9mm, but don't need anything bigger, so that is the caliber I settled on.

I carry my G23 with 13rds of Speer Gold Dot 180gr HP in a Leather Blackhawk IWB holster. It conceals well and for the most part is comfortable. I would like something with just a little shorter of a barrel so I don't pinch my damn sack occasionally![ROFL2]

I thought about the G27 or G26 but haven't made the jump yet. May even consider the XD 3.8.

I have two Springfield 1911s, one Commander size, and one Officers size. I go back and forth between the two. I bought the Commander earlier this year, and got the Officers last month so I could have commonality of function and controls. Both pistols are factory custom from Springfield, so they're set up identically. Got no reason to make any changes in my setup as of now.

XD subcompact in .40 S&W, I like it as a carry weapon due to the grip safety; a light trigger and a blind IWB holster @ about 5 o'clock. Conceals well, 12 +1, .40 is what I shoot the most and have the most of. I like the versatility of the .40 S&W round, it can be fast and light like a 9mm or slow & heavy like a .45 depending on the charge and components I select.

Having shot a Shield in .40 yesterday I might be tempted to make the switch but I like my 990 as well for the capacity & 2nd strike. It also has bright night sights, was cheap and eats anything. I've been eying 2" revolvers in .357 as that's probably my 2nd most prolific pistol cal.

i am carrying a bodyguard 380 at the moment, i have several comfortable ways to carry,
kusiac leathers tuckable, as well as right hand draw holster, also digging my tactical undershirt/holster

i am a smaller framed guy, so concealing a full sized handgun is difficult for me,

i like the long heavy trigger and no safety, i am fully comfortable carrying this weapon loaded and ready with no fear of accidental discharge, any fired round would be fully deliberate.

the gun has been flawless at the range with several hundred rounds through it.

i do wish it had night sights,

Why is there all this talk about second strike capability? The round failed you once, why give it a second chance. Tap, rack.

For the range. I'm lazy & cheap. If i am doing drills, tap, rack, bang. I really liked my 17 & 18 until i scored a 226 which shot better than the G's. P99 is there also. same for the 229.

fail to fire response in a life threatening situation is a big advantage to a revolver as a ccw in my opinion, the drawback being you only had 5 or six rounds to start and now one less than that.

Springfield Stainless V-10 Loaded MicroCompact usually but she is torn down for new sights and a refinish right now. I will probably retire her once back together, too valuable to lose if I had to use it. Usually in a Bianchi IWB.
I have been carrying a Model 60 of late in a G&G (I think) IWB.
Good little piece that carries well

M&P9c (Apex duty kit installed) in a IWB Galco Tuck-N-Go or this basic Blackhawk holster depending on where I'm going.

As a lefty I need something I can operate 100% correctly with that my strong hand. I also like the capacity that 9mm gives me as well as being able to use the full-size mags I have for my M&P Pro. I feel like a cheap skate with my holster choices but I thought hard about them. I needed something I could put on and take off as a whole with some discretion since I don't bring it into my office. I also happen to hate those super-tuck style holsters with the big patch of material. Those drive me crazy. That's me, though.

More often then not a Sig P238 (night sights, and laser) in a nemesis pocket holster and the spare mag in my left front pocket. When I have more options for covering I carry my XDm 3.8 40 in a Desantis OWB mini scabbard. All depends on the clothing and the setting.

Also just picked up a Shield 40 last night and don't have a holster for it yet. Not a big fan of IWB because I have "overhang" above the belt [Coffee]

Leaning toward another Desantis mini-scabbard for that, any recommendations???????????

Also, and this may sound a bit [fag] But I'm thinking about an ankle rig for the P238. Anyone ever used one? did you like it? Recommend a specific setup? My main reason for it is that I carry a lot of crap in my pockets, and while I like the pocket holster, it forces me to move my wallet to my back pocket when I use it with regular jeans. I stopped carrying my wallet in my rear pocket years ago due to back problems and driving a lot of miles due to my job.

G19 in a raven concealment. Extra mag (g17 mag) in case of mag related failure or in case there are more zombies than anticipated. 147 gr federal JHP... I think they're +p, but I don't remember. I have a couple boxes left, but I'm too lazy to go look. I've never sat down and did real accuracy testing, but they can hit 'minute-of-pie-plate' out to 30m. Good enough for me.

For quick carry a 637 S&W/w2 speed loaders on the side. For out of town carry a G-22/w2 mags full. For hunting and hiking a 44 mag with 2 speed loaders and a belt full of ammo will do. Back up guns are always LCP and Derringer.

Kahr PM9 in a Crossbreed MiniTuck. There's nothing currently that I'd replace it with. I considered the XDS but it's not as small as the PM9 and loaded out it's heavier. I occasionally pocket carry the PM9 and to me it's just at the limit of being too big to pocket carry comfortably. I'd like to try a 3" 1911 for IWB but I imagine I wouldn't like the weight and I'd have to keep the PM9 for when IWB isn't an option.

I'm not sure I'd upgrade. I'd have to see what's on the market and sample a few items. 228 is working great for me. I'd upgrade the ammo and holster.

I might add a 30 round AR magazine, flash that and people just fall over dead.

Would not want to carry a 1000-1500 dollar gun. If I ever have to use it or for some reason am told by an officer to drop it I don't want to be dropping a expensive weapon. Or if i use it and have to let my gun be held onto while doing an investigation i would rather it be a $400-500 glock and not a $1000 dollar 1911/sig.
