Local archery shop recommendations?

Looking to get into bow hunting next year, and I want to buy a bow now and start getting familiar. I had a youth compound bow that I was decent with when I was a teenager, but have not even held one in about 20 years. I essentially know nothing except what I've recently found on the internet, so I want to go to a shop where they know what they're talking about and can help me pick out the right gear. Secondarily, it occurs to me this is also a perfect long-term SHTF weapon to own. I live in Aurora, but I'll make the drive for the right service. Looking for recommendations for a shop, beginner gear (that I can eventually hunt deer/elk with), and any tips you're willing to share. Thanks in advance.

i like these guys too. There stuff probably won't be real cheap but you get what you pay for. Cry once and be done. They also have a nice indoor range and will watch you shoot and give you some pointers.

I also like no limits archery which is a little closer to you kind of by the bass pro. All the same amenities but last time I was there the retail was kind of small although its been a while. Good guys and a great range.

Pelligrinos down in the springs. Ask for Evan. He know his stuff. I just got into bow hunting two years ago and my advice would be get the best bow you can afford and you like that fits. If you go into it with buying a beginners bow you will want something better in short order which will cost nothing but more money.

I started archery hunting 8 years ago. Bear Creek got me set up and I've been bringing my bow there ever since.

I went by Tanglewood Archery this weekend; bit hard to find, actually had to turn on the GPS. The owner was a great guy, talked with me for a bit, measured my draw length and fitted me for a bow, then took me into their indoor range and taught me to shoot it. I think he earned a customer with his great level of service (exactly what I was looking for), but I didn't realize how much it was going to cost to get into. I try not to buy anything I can't pay cash for, so I'll have to sock away a few dollars out of the gun budget before I can get away with dropping that kind of coin. It probably doesn't help that I went straight from there to Sportsman's and bought a new CCW.

not surprised about your experience. They are good guys in there. The stuff they stock is more high end like Hoyt and Matthews and it is pricey. I would advocate cry once and be done so it sounds like your plan is good. Congrats on the CCW too.

What is your draw length? I am also gonna suggest No Limits Archery. I was there last week and noticed they had a few used bows from the employees because the new bows came out. What is the price range you are working with? I have a bunch of gear laying around.
