OK, I know many of you hate FB and I agree for the most part.

After spending more time on this forum I’ve come to realize the only benefit of Facebook over these forums is that on Facebook I get to offend distant family members and their friends with completely different values. And, I get to see them during the holidays (some of them now completely avoid me, and whisper as I walk by (if you’re really pro teachers union we probably shouldn’t talk too muchJ)) but I get the same kind of outlet and support…. Other than all the pussies on FB (my mom included.. am I going to hell for that or is it a Freud moment?) that are afraid to offend someone.

We’ve never had more than 60 FB friends / acquaintances and managed to be defriended by two (that we noticed), one on my side and one on my wife’s and both “teachers”.

Well, that’s my rant for the moment, if you love FB let me know and I’ll reactivate our account and send you a friend request and see if it can be more fun. J

FB is retarded but I use it to keep up with the family and some friends. My mom likes to see all the pics and videos of my little 15 month old daughter growing up. Other than that I tend to piss of some of them with my Pro Gun posts but I don't think I have ever had anyone defriend me.[Tooth]

In my defense the Grandparents see the kids at least once a week. :)

So, we're lucky!

I don't need friends badly enough to have a FB account.

Actually more people have responded to this thread than we have friends. :)

I tried FB for 2 day's. It asked my to verify my E-mail address. The easy way is to enter your e-mail address here. I did and it hacked every E-mail contact in my computer. You probably know this person and this person and this person, etc. NO THANK YOU!! I deleted my account. [Rant2]

Hey, any good friend would do the same thing... "where do you work", then spend some time there and find out who you know.... nothing wrong with that right. :)

I've always taken our FB "About You" as a disclaimer. This has lead to several arguments and an accusation of impersonation.

"This is the D******* family FB page for J*, K*, J* & A*.

The opinions expressed here are the views of the writer (most likely J*) and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of this particular branch of the D******* family as a whole…

Examples of analysis performed within these pages are only examples. They should not be utilized in real-world analytic products as they are based only on very limited information. Assumptions made within the analysis are not reflective of the position of any member of this family."

I just deleted my account a couple months ago. I came to the realization that I know a lot of completely retarded people and it was making me dumber just by reading the posts that they would make. Sometimes it is better to simplify your life and stay away from crap like facebook. Also on the off the grid front I just ordered my first cell phone in 7 years yesterday. It will be here tomorrow. I bet the Galaxy III will be slightly more advanced than my Motorola flip phone I had from 2002. It was a necessary evil.

Facebook is for getting caught up talking to old GF's or not at all and getting in trouble when they like your posts. I'll be your friend on FB that should throw my womans a curve trying to figure out that one.

Should be fun, my name is Jamey and I'll ask if you remember all those crazy times... try and explain that one..... "Who's Jamey"

Once upon a time, I was notorious amongst my friend-set for permitting only 25 friends. If someone wanted in, somebody else got canned. I also routinely deleted anyone I hadn't spoken to in a year or more. Gradually, I slacked off and allowed up to 50 people. I had to stay off of Facebook and other social media for a few months for work. I got used to it pretty quick, and now I have been off for 6+ months. I've found no difficulty in staying in contact with the people I actually care about.

My problem is that I start drinking and then I feel like there are far too few people in my vocal range that should be hearing what I have to say.

If I just had a giant microphone it would all be the same to me.

Facebook is somewhat useful... Found out today that the 26 year old in wheat ridge that was killed saturday night was a friend of mine from HS. Before the news had released much of any info.

I do have a problem with them hacking E-mail. I did some gun deals a few years back. Saved the mails just for reference, brought one guy's wife up saying you might know this person after a one time purchase from 2 1/2 years ago. Just saying. [Coffee]

I was picturing the move Cable Guy.... You meet some guy, talk for a bit and next think you know he's hanging around your office talking to people about you. :)

Now the part that has me confused. We had a FB account that we accessed from coupe PC's and deactivated it. How is it than when I launch a completely different computer from a different network IP it manages to associate the accounts. Mind you the PC in question has never accessed a FB account.

My guess and I would bet this can be confirmed by reading their privacy statement is that they keep track of other accounts you log into. So if you had a FB account and logged into ar-15.co and then buy a brand new PC and take it to a new state and log into ar-15.co with the same user name they still know it's you and start linking everything even if you've never touched FB from that PC.

Waste of time. If I haven't stayed in touch with someone, there was usually a reason. Never had a FB, or any of the other fad accounts and seem to stay in touch with ones i want to, the effing phone is an amazing invention few seem to use anymore.

Damn, if I only relied on the phone I'd be in the woods writing my manifesto. Maybe that's because I don't like actually talking to people.

I worked side by side with a guy for 6 months and didn't realize I had no idea who he was until someone asked me if "Rob" was in.... my response "Who's Rob".

I had a FB account for awhile. I ended up deleting it because of the numbskullish stuff people would constantly post. I was surprised at how dumb people are on there. An old friend of mine kept getting his house robbed while him and his wife were out of town, Turns out it was someone on his wifes FB account. She was constantly posting where and what they were doing when they would leave town for the weekend ETC. I also think it contributes to Id theft.

They can track IP addresses regardless unless you're proxying your connection. Log into an account using your home IP that's one thing. Use a computer at the library for a false account that's another thing. Different IP's and different sessions.

Also a lot of phone companies have rolling IP's for their mobile devices using 4g... So you don't even have to goto the library... Just reboot and get a new IP.

I don't partake in any kind of conversations on facebook like I do/would here. I'm not really sure why i keep it active, I guess to keep in touch with some work contacts, but other than that I just see more stuff from people that annoys me or that I don't care about.

I like Facebook, I don't really post much stuff up there, but it is a good way to keep tabs on people. I have my privacy set to keep most people out of it, I suppose someone who knew what they were doing could get in, but there isn't anything that interesting on there anyway.

On a professional note: It is a GREAT investigative tool. I was interviewing a guy once and asked "Do you know so and so" he said "no", I was like..."hmmm, that's weird because I have a picture of you with your arm around him on my desk". It's funny some of the crap people post on there. Another guy (burglary suspect in the winter time) posted on there "Froze my ass off last night getting money with the homies" LMAO, I LOVVVVEEEEE Facebook.
