I want to be able to shoot antelope and varmints with this one so here is where I need some help.

I see that I can use a .243 wssm bullet .... This would be enough for the antelope distance shot......WHAT DO I NEED TO COMPLETE THIS TASK. What Upper Receiver do I need and which BOLT and BOLT Carrier will best work......Will my barrel need to be bigger than 5.56/.223.........

Thank you all who can give me some direction....[Swim]

You can get a 243 upper already built. Yes you need a different barrel if you built the upper.

Check the for sale section. There is a real nice .25WSSM in there. It would sure be a goat anchor.

Just order or find a complete upper in the caliber you want. If it's the .243 wssm. you want, then so be it. BUT surely you understand that a .243 is not the same as .223/5.56. Two completely different calibers, meaning two completely different sized bullet dia. and two completely different sized bolts needed for the different sized brass.

Just a side note, if you're not into reloading, the .243 wssm. may not be your best choice, and if you're new to reloading, the .243 wssm. can be a little cantakerous to reload for.

6x45 may be a tad lite for Antelope though.

ok I know what i am going to do.....I am going to go with a 6.8 spc setup. I should be good to go with this set-up.

Now next question is my Lower receiver does not show a setting for Semi-auto on it. All there is is fire and safe....Do I have Semi-auto option?

How do you think the AR will fire when it is on the "FIRE" setting? One bullet at a time or full-auto?

Fire is semi auto.

This is why the HK marking system is superior.

Pretty obvious compared that old "SAFE/FIRE" marking isn't it? [Tooth]

I don't think 6.8 is going to have the distance for antelope. Good luck with the build!

I have to take that back - 6.8mm might do the trick. Here's the data from Silver State Armory

Ok so that is why there is only two markings.....Fire is single shot and semi-auto in one setting.....Cause you have to pull trigger each time for single or semi-auto....[AR15][Pepsi]
