I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I remember & try to live it daily, even though I no longer wear the uniform.

Yep. And when I became a civilian and stood there I was asked to raise my right hand and declare; I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States.

I thought I was reenlisting..... Many of the federal workers sadly have forgotten that oath. there is only one line that changes between me as the civilian and me the solider. I have many that have not a clue....

I may be more recent- but 01 OCT 2006 I took that oath, and I still live by it even now, just over 2 years after discharge. [Beer]
