The company put out an unofficial apology, but the official apology should start with "The bitch has been fragged."
At least that's what I would do if she were my employee... Never disrespect our fallen like that.
This is what I wrote to her company:
I'm sure this isn't the first message you've received on this matter, but I'm writing you in response to seeing a picture of one of your employees, Lindsey Stone, and I see that you have attempted to separate yourself from this issue by stating that the photo does not represent your opinions. However, this employee represents your company, and regardless of where you stand on the picture she still gives your company a bad name. I am in no way telling you how to run your company, but I would suggest firing this individual for her blatant disrespect of both our nation's fallen heroes and your company. As a veteran, I would also like to see this person issue a formal apology to everyone for this disrespect.
Thank you.

There is no relation. I've never met or heard of Lindsey Stone in my life.

I am a veteran. I find her actions, the actions of the photographer, and the person who posted the photograph to be reprehensible. Clearly they have a point to make and they have made it. I disagree and find their level of disrespect for the men and women who have died defending their rights, sad.

The employer in this case is a non-profit adult living center where they care for the mentally disabled. To attack this organization would most likely result in a decrease in the level of care provided for people who need it most. I would suspect that there are some employees at this center that agree with Ms. Stone. I would not assume that all of the employees agree with her and therefore do not believe it would be just to punish all of the employees and subsequently all of the residents at this facility for the poor behavior of Ms. Stone and those who took and posted the photograph.

I don't know what should happen to Ms. Stone for her actions in this case. Perhaps the President can host a beer summit for her, the photographer, and some wounded veterans /sarcasm

I do know that Mob Justice never turns out the way you want it to. I'm glad this incident has been publicized. I believe we have the same level of Free Speech as possessed by those we disagree with, like Ms. Stone. I suspect that in the end, Ms. Stone's five minutes of fame will be shortlived and she will go back to her life with a different attitude. She could learn from this experience that her actions have consequences and that she should put more thought into them or she could be emboldened to be a spokesperson for her convictions, aka Cindy Sheehan. Either way, life goes on.

I find Arlington National Cemetery to be the ultimate political statement. In order to punish Robert E. Lee after the Civil War, they turned his home into a burial ground making it completely uninhabitable for him and his family. It was over 100 years before the Lee family could receive any type of compensation for the confiscation of their family property, and the compensation was more symbolic than actual market value compensation. Regardless of what you think about the Civil War, Robert E. Lee was the veteran's veteran. He served his country for decades before the war and never regained his full citizenship during his lifetime. To walk through the Custis-Lee mansion and then walk through the cemetery always reinforces a real respect for the sacrifices made by so many, for all of us.

Be safe.

I'm very pleased with the way the employer is dealing with this.

I know we have a lot of friends who are very liberal and I just love to show them what their brethren are like without stooping to their level. Then I get bored and suspend the account again. It's also under my wife's name and I'm not friends with any co-workers so I feel pretty safe.

Its a stupid gag, but that's it. Its just a stupid gag.

I tend to agree with this viewpoint. Look, I fully understand and respect the former/current military members on this board. But does this genuinely surprise/shock anyone? She's obviously a tasteless human being, but I have to draw the line at people wishing bad things upon her. As it pertains to my philosophy on life, I believe that the only way that someone's word or actions can emotionally affect me is if I allow them to have that power over me. I refuse to allow anyone to affect how I feel and I see the inability to do that as weakness. Like I said, that's my own thing and take it as you may.

Bottom line though, it's a picture. Don't give her the satisfaction of wasting energy being mad at her/wishing bad things upon her.

There's now an apology:

OK, here is the Official apology from Lindsay Stone(One on the Picture), and Jamie Schuh(One that took the picture).

"We sincerely apologize for all the pain we have caused by posting the picture we took in Washington DC on Facebook. While posted on a public forum, the picture was intended only for our own amusement. We never meant any disrespect to any of the people nationwide who have served this country and defended our freedom so valiantly. It was meant merely as a visual pun, intending to depict the exact opposite of what the sign said, and had absolutely nothing to do with the location it was taken or the people represented there. We never meant to cause any harm or disrespect to anyone, particularly our men and women in uniform. We realize it was in incredibly poor taste, and are deeply sorry for the offense we have caused.

We also sincerely apologize to LIFE, Inc. It is an amazing organization that provides invaluable services to adults with learning and developmental disabilities. We are beyond remorseful that our actions have caused them such undue public scrutiny. The disrespect implied by our picture has nothing at all to do with LIFE’s mission statement or values. We regret having caused any suffering to the staff members, residents, families and friends.

Again, we very sincerely apologize to everyone who took offense to the photo. We realize that it was an ignorant and distasteful thing for us to do, but we truly meant no harm. We are deeply sorry."

You might feel differently if you had close friends that died fighting right next to you and are laid to rest there. Emotions on that level are a lot higher than your detached sense of respect for their sacrifice. This goes beyond a simple action, there is a disconnect in her reality so deep that it would not even occur to her that people died some of the most gruesome deaths imaginable to serve and protect this nation and her freedom. The word Respect is on that sign for a very explicit reason, and her self-righteous dumb ass is so wrapped up in her own little world that she did not care to think before she acted. I wish the worst upon her, not for self satisfaction of emotional outlash, but so she be made an example of so that others may learn to think outside their pretty little existences before they act.

I think they deserved the firing BUT it should stop there. The gal in the picture apologized; we'll never know if it was sincere or not but it was definitely long so I think she got the message. I'll reserve the "rot in hell" for Hanoi Jane who never has apologized for her treasonous conduct. One of the things about Reagan that annoyed me was that he refused to take action against her because of the pain it would have caused his old friend, her father.

I don't know about anyone else's training but mine said you punish promptly and privately then move on. You also praise promptly and publicly but that has no bearing in this situation. Her employer took action, she and her friend have been given reason to learn their lessons (even Red Eye made fun of them tonight), time to drop it and get back to berating the President for bankrupting the country.

Liberal didn't just want to boycott them...then wanted every restaurant wiped off the face of the planet. I'm not calling anyone here a liberal (I have come to see that is a cardinal sin around here) but I'm just saying for as anti-liberal as people are around here I would think there would be a different response.

You make a great point and I get it. It is just very hard to be Jesus when the other side is so "evil".

If it were easy to do that this country would be in a lot better of a place I would imagine. I definitely understand why everyone gets super pissed about this...I really do. I guess I just have a very short list of reasons to wish harm upon someone.

Actually...I don't really wish harm upon anyone. If they get to the point where I wish harm was done to them, I'll be doing the harming [LOL]
