View Full Version : Man points rifle at kids, cops do nothing
http://www.tacomaweekly.com/news/view/when-is-a-gun-not-a-gun/
A handful of children, between the ages of 11 and 15 were playing tag within 50 yards of their homes around the corner of South 16th and Ainsworth streets at about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 27. A man living at the corner house rushed out of the home with what the children described as a long-barreled rifle. He was holding it with both hands by his hip. “Get on the f---||||ing ground, get on the f---||||ing ground,” the children and witnesses said he yelled.
A flurry of 911 calls then prompted five officers to respond. Emergency dispatchers logged the call at 11:18 p.m. The first car arrived at 11:21 p.m., according to the only official record of the case. Two officers talked to the children and their parents, then walked to the suspect’s house and were apparently refused entry to question the man. A woman inside the house apparently told officer Steve Storwick that the gun the man pulled on the children was “just a pellet gun” and refused to answer further questions. “If he had even slightly mishandled that he could have killed one of them,” Rivera stated later. “I don't understand why the police didn't ask him to see it.” The officers returned to the house where the victims were gathered and told the parents that no crime was committed. No arrest. No police report would even be filed. The case was closed. The entire police investigation took 10 minutes, 911 records show.

When was the last time you saw 11 and 15 year olds playing tag? Those kids were up to no good and this is a left libtard story to make up another bad story about gun owners.
And at what point is it okay to walk out of your house, draw down on a bunch of kids and scream at them to get down, then walk back inside and not call the authorities to let them know you stopped a kid doing a crime?

Agreed. After reading the story I agree with the authorities decision. I'm sure there's more to the story than this one night. I know it would take more than one night of kids playing tag before most people would choose to act in defense. Maybe a history of harassment by the neighbor kids. Who really knows though
I can't imagine the press getting the story wrong...[facepalm] How about a class in grammer for the reporter... Must be one big trigger too...[dig]
The children said several minutes passed as they lied on the ground at gunpoint while the man yelled at them with his arms shaking with his hand on the trigger. He then began backing up while still pointing the gun at the children. “He kept pointing it at us until we couldn’t see him anymore when he went into his house,” Isabella Carter said. “To me it was a gun. It wasn’t anything else. It was a gun and he was pointing it at us.”

There's so much slant in that article it's not even worth reading. "His arms were shaking and he had his hand on the trigger as the big bad man pointed his evil black assault pellet gun at teenagers who were playing grabass exactly 50yds and around the corner from where they lived."
Well tag or not and pellet gun or not maybe it needs more investigating then. I know if I pulled my gun on some kid or adult and didn't use it in self defense to end the BAD situation my ass would be in trouble. Especially if I didn't call authorities after and refused to answer questions.

Okay, I read the whole article and it is a little wack and apparently their laws are a tad different.

This.
I remember playing tag with pellet/BB guns, and no surprisingly, no one ever shot their eye out. Guess I shouldn't admit that, but oh well. Country boy and all that jazz.

While I agree with your sentiments, there's something ironic about a spelling error in a post asking for someone else to get grammar lessons ... [facepalm]

...Provoked or not, it's still brandishing a firearm...regardless of if its a pellet gun or not...who the hell knows what it is...
They guy was probably provoked, not going to argue that, but really...deal with things like an adult and dont go pull a gun on a bunch of kids.
Given...unless the kids had guns, which would be nicely left out of the story by the libtards, or the kids posed a decent threat to his life or his loved ones...then it's Clint Eastwood status...

When I was a kid we used to play Army and other games with all kinds of toy guns, stuff like Mattel Tommy Burst (Thompson full auto cap gun), Johnny 7 OMA, M14 replicas, Winchester replicas that could fire projectiles, all manner of Daisy air rifles that if you cocked them muzzle down on the lawn would fire a plug of grass about 15 to 20 feet, Fanner 50 SAA and a myriad of other toy guns, squirt guns in summer that looked just like their real life counterparts. We played games like "Neatest Fall" where one guy was it and shot everyone else and then picked someone they "killed" that made the most realistic death by gunfire to be it and the next shooter. If you died on pavement it was considered brave and almost always ensured a pick to be the shooter. We ran from yard to yard all up and down the street (we knew whose grass to stay off of) and no one ever called the cops or told us to stop playing these disgusting games. This was in SoCal in the early 60's to 70's. Great fun with guns.
Sad to say that if a bunch of kids were seen today running around the neighborhood with toy guns the cops would be called and citations would probably be issued for some violation or another.

I sense allot of spin-judgement here...
15 year old 'kids'
we just had a case here where a 13 year old stabbed a 2 year old over a dozen times...

Tell me again why "kids' cannot pose a threat?
Speculation: Perhaps the young people were shouting death threats and the police did not to charge anyone because the homeowner chose not to press charges.

Actually he probably pointed out-
There is a curfew and kids should not be out playing at 10:30 at night without some form of adult with them, 50 yards away or not. Just a guess, but perhaps the parents of said chillins were inside enjoying adult beverages and/or illicit substances?
At 10:30 at niht, hearing a noise outside his home, the homeowner went to investigate and found a band of hoodlums up to no good, and was about to shoot when he identified the perps as the neighborhood brats, and rather than shoot them, sent them on thier way home.
Instead of being properly chastised and or charged/fined for breaking curfew, the parents are told to let it go, but dont, because they have a right to let their spawn run around unsupervised.
Perhaps the parents should count themselves lucky its not my neighborhood, because if I hear a bunch of racket in the middle of the night it might be warning shots instead of commands.

If the homeowner in the OP doesn't actually have a pellet gun, he'd best buy one PDQ.
