Is there a place near Colorado Springs to shoot 300+ meters?

Pueblo West has a 400 berm
Royal Gorge Gun Club has a 1000 yard line

I shoot 540 yds at the new Frontier south range when no-one else is on the rifle ranges. We are working on a 1k range. Frontier has big plans for a 35 point KD range but is short on funds; I'm trying to get them to put up at least an impact berm so we can use the section laid out for 1k for longer than 300 yard shooting when more than one person is there. 540 is about it to keep it in the 300 yard berm without breaking the 180 towards the pistol ranges on the east side of the property.

If you don't mind going up the mountain, there are some gulch areas off the 77 road out of Lake George where you can set up your own range and shooter longer distances in the Pike National Forest. Marksbury Gulch is one I've used before.

Lastly, you can get day access to a beautiful 600 yard KD range by following the instructions here:

http://www.bcgc.com/fickes/

From the Springs go up to Woodland Park, take 67 to Deckers, then 126 towards Buffalo Creek. Take a left on FR550. Stay on 550 and take the right fork at the Wellington Lake turnoff (sign says "Bailey" to right). 4 miles past the cattle guard the BCGC gate is on your left. If you hit another Y (550/549) you went too far. Back tack 3/10ths to the gated road.

Yeah, both BCGC and Royal Gorge are about 50 miles, not too bad, just gotta bring lunch...

Thank you, all.

Ben Lomond is membership only, as are CRC and Royal Gorge. The closest public range to CS over 300 yards is - Camp Fickes at BCGC. Next closest is NRAWC. Both are outstanding facilities and well worth the drive.

I myself would rather make the 2 hr 10 min drive to Raton than BCGC due to the differences in the roads; the twisty roads to BCGC get my adrenalin going. The leisurely drive down 25 does not have that effect. Generally I go to BCGC the night before and camp out.

Drop me a PM and Let me know what dates you have open and I will take you up to BCGC on one of them. I was just up there last week.

I think in the future I will post when I am going and see if anyone wants to tag along.

We shoot out to 425 yards every month at our rifle matches in Pueblo...

There is a private range out near Falcon that has ranges out to 400 yards. My dad is a member there.

It's Frontier as mentioned above and the longest yardage at the Falcon range is 300 yards.

Frontier also has a new range down by Fountain. IIRC we're supposed to end up with 1000 yard ranges down there (I'm a member but have never gone down to the Fountain range).

Unfortunately the south range only has the option of shooting out to 300 yards right now. Hopefully they will fix that. It takes me the same amount of time to drive to Pueblo as it does the south range.
