It's that time again.

Same as last year, there are 2 rifles, both are single shot bolt action. One is going to go to a boy, the other is going to a girl.
(wife says one has to go to a girl, gotta keep the wife happy ya know ;) )
Besides, I agree with her. So enter the young ladies too.

The boy will receive Winchester M-67. It has a 27" barrel, and an overall length of 43 1/4" and weighs in at 5.06 lbs. Looks like someone put a sling on it at one time, and then took it off and "tried" to fill the holes. There is also some rust on the barrel, but it shoots good. There was also no butt-pad, so I put a slip-on pad on it, as you can see in the picture. It is the bottom one in the picture.

The girl will receive a Marlin (it is not marked, but I believe it to be a Model-101) It has a 22" barrel, and an overall length of 40" and weighs in at an even 5 lbs. It is the top one in the picture.

These rifles are nothing fancy, but shoot well. Bolt action, single shot, with iron sights, no scope (which, in my opinion) is the way a young one should learn to shoot. One shot at a time, concentrating on accuracy.

So, to the rules.

1. If you happen to be a previous winner of ANY firearm, please don’t enter, let’s pass it around.
2. I would like this rifle to go to a child that does not already have a 22 rifle. Honor system.
3. What age child? Thinking about 8-12.
You know, better than I, if your child is responsible enough for a firearm or not.
4. You must be an active participant in this forum to nominate the child. My judgment.
5. Can be, but does not have to be, your child, grandchild. Can be a niece, nephew, friends kid, etc.
6. Tell us a little about the kid. (Mandatory)
Don't need a life history, but "Please enter Brian." ain't gonna make it.
If you do not want to put this info online, PM it to me.
7. I will end this when I feel like it.
8. I will need (signed) parents permission.
9. This is for Colorado residents ONLY.
10. If you are not comfortable receiving the rifle, without going through an FFL, don’t nominate anyone. Not using an FFL is perfectly legal, and looked at by the BATF, as a same state sale. And since there are no visible serial numbers on either of them, it is not like there would be a lot of information to record.

Seeing as how this IS for ANY kid in Colorado, I am quoting from the BATF FAQ website (the pertinent part) just in case it needs to be shipped. (FTF (face to face) for the Denver metro area)

(quote)(B7) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?
A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State.(/quote)

Parents, if you are not willing to take the kid shooting, at least a few times per year, don’t enter. I don't want this to turn out to be a dust collector. Please don’t enter “just because it is free” lets get these to kids that (along with the parents) are going to shoot them.

I hope these rifles gives YEARS of enjoyment to the winners.

Since it has been asked before. If anyone wants to donate something, you are more than welcome to. It will be up to you to get it to the winner(s).
If no one else donates accessories, like eyes, ears, ammo, etc. I will make sure that the winner gets at least some safety glasses, ear plugs, and some ammo, if they do not have any.

KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE.

There was a picture posted of a young lady on my giveaway thread last year who showed "NO FEAR" Those who seen it will remember.
That thread/picture was lost in the great crash.
If dad is reading this, you know who I am talking about, I would sure LIKE to see that picture again.

P.S.
Special message.
Missed it by 10 minutes = pure BS.

I'd like to nominate my wife's kid brother, Jonathan.
Kid's 11 years old, mom doesn't have much time for him (whole 'nother story) and dad ran out on them a few months after he was born, so he currently spends most of his time in front of the TV or computer screen playing Xbox and crap. I'm the only male influence in his life and shooting trips are kind of our "thing." He's shown some talent with .22s in the Boy Scouts, and every time I mention the big shooting trip when I come home he lights up and gets all kinds of excited.
I think it'd make a great Christmas present for him, and when he comes to stay with us in NC for the summer it'll be great for him to have his own rifle as we live on 22 acres of shoot-where-you-like land, especially since the closest neighbors kids are the same age and are out shooting targets and critters all the time.

Also, for whoever the winners are, I can make 550 cord slings to donate (Slatts rescue belt style) in any color.

I would like to nominate my daughter Dakota. She is 10 years old. Dakota has been bugging her dad to teach her how to shoot and go hunting with me. She wants to hunt deer, but I told her we should probably start with rabbits. I started with a single shot so I believe this would be a great starter rifle for her. Thanks
