Ok, so like the idiot I am, I finished building my first AR, and jumped on the holiday ammo sale on brownells, neglecting to see that the 820 rounds I just bought are all tracer rounds with LC brass, and they came with 10 "free" 30 rd mags. So, now I'm sitting on 820 rounds of tracers, and have no idea where I can shoot these without causing a forest fire. Any ideas? I wanted to have some ammo to blow through until I start reloading the LC brass, so I saw this as a killer deal (no pun intended).[Bang]

You could always pull the tracers and sell them. I'd dump the powder and start with the primed cases. I have about 1200 JSP's i was not to thrilled with (blem / seconds) As time allows i pull them, dump the powder and start over.

I'd trade you 1 for 1 for 40 rounds of 55 gr. LC if they are on stripper clips. ( The 55 gr. LC that I have are.)
I'll trade one for one as well... Looking at 60 rounds or so
It's funny, but we went to Syracuse, New York, for Thanksgiving to my wife's sisters place. There was a Gander Mountain not 5 mins from her house. Now, we all know how gun-unfriendly that state is, although the people love their guns and deer hunting, and that state is completely covered with trees, brush, and other flammable vegetation. NOTHING like Colorado. So what do I see in Gander Mountain? A HUGE pallet with hundreds and hundreds of ammo cans of .223 TRACERS! I couldn't even imagine they would be legal to shoot in that state, let alone where the hell are they gonna shoot them?
I can trade between 100 and 150 rds of freedom munitions reman. Most, if not all, of the brass is LC.

Safe shooting of tracers here in colorado without a fire squad on hand requires either:
Sandy desert, or
Significant snow cover, or
Recent or current heavy rain.
Id just wait until it snows then shoot them.
They are pretty hard on your barrel and have and accuracy standard of something like 12 moa.

Thanks guys for the advice. I may just start pulling bullets, measuring how much powder is in each, then reloading some new ones until it snows. Why would you guys want to trade for tracers? That doesn't make sense to me. Unless you shoot out in junction... I'd rather not trade unless it its new lc ammo. Not that i don't trust you guys, I'm just a bit of a control freak when it comes to my precious (intentional lord of the rings reference).
I have a place to shoot 'em without burning the foothills down. I also like to stick one toward the bottom of my mags.
Not that it matters, as I only have the reman laying around.
I put three at the end of each of the mags I have in long-term storage. I also have enough to cover the ratio (27:3) of stored ammo/tracer if I were to reload more mags, due to killing lots of zombies. I don't shoot them otherwise for the same reasons already covered by everyone else.

I'd trade mine out in a heartbeat. Shit collecting dust doesn't benefit me.
I loaded a bunch for the Cheyenne Wells shoots. They had fire trucks. I don't know what I'm gonna do with mine. Funny that my friend did the same thing as the OP. Such a deal.
