Awesome...more fuel for the anti-2A crowd. Hooray.
Doesn't look like we have the full story- but I will say this, not necessarily related, I cannot stand being next to a car where their music is loud enough not only for them to hear, but everyone within 3 blocks can hear it... Hey Jay-Z, you wanna turn your tunes down, or am I gonna have to do it for you?
But the kid's father is an idiot: "Ron Davis promised to fight laws that allow people to carry guns outside of their homes." Yes, let's all just become victims now, and let the criminals take over. [facepalm]

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. He should have called the cops right there. Leaving can appear to be fleeing the scene to LEO's.
My personal take on carrying is that I only draw if I fear for my life. I would only open fire if I saw that as the alternative to a very immediate threat. I also know that doing these actions would almost certainly involve bankruptcy and possible prison.

"Law enforcement should be the only people who should have guns on the street," he said.
Yea,.........
Obama has a lot of illegitimate children.. look at this kid.. it could be his.

The mindset of folks who rely on .gov to provide and care for them.
If they waved a gun at him they expected a response just not the one they got but probably the one they deserved. Loud music is seldom life threatening and even if it turns out he was justified in the shooting he's still an idiot for having left, not called the cops and engaging in an argument with a car load of teens when he was leaving in a few minutes. I'm not condoning being a doormat but dang pick your battles, what was the upside of this one?

That's a potential threat. You now put yourself in a position, IF called on it to act. You need to step away. Being a man means being able to walk away.

Very true. Some battles are better left alone.
This thread has no chance of going south. From what witnesses report, an armed man shot at a bunch of unarmedi kids in a car. For apparently playing loud music. Ths guy could possibly compromise legal carry for a lot of people with his "I was defending myself" argument. For those saying he should called the cops......for what? How about walking away or ignoring it. Imagine if your kid had been in the car when this idiot started shooting.....I'm guessing a few of your kids turn their music up at times.

The title of this thread sums it up. More people are concerned that the shooter was white and the kids in the car were black.
It makes no damn difference, but the race of a victim in contrast to the perpetrator is all anyone cares about.

Either way, the guy was way in the wrong on this one. I'd like to know exactly when he told police he thought he saw a gun. I'm betting it was after the realization of what he did.

Can't speak for anyone else but I meant as opposed to leaving the scene, staying at a motel and having to be tracked down. You have to watch those "unarmedi kids" sometimes they have guns. [Tooth]

No no no, I don't mean it as a threat- I mean I'm going to turn their music down, or speak quietly so they are forced to turn it down in order to hear me... [Coffee]
If someone is annoying you and you can leave...
You can do everything right and still be wrong.
The comment about law enforcement being the only people who should have guns outside the home is laughably ironic. If the shooting had involved a police officer, this statement would never have been made.
Making bad decisions has consequences. 20 years in prison is one possible consequence.
Be safe.
