Looking for a decent bipod that can come and go as required.
Looking for a nice 1x4 like a burris Tac30 sometime down the road and sometimes it would be nice to put something on there when laying out prone. I'm not shooting extreme long shots with a 16 inch but would like to see what she is capable of.

$20 bipods scare me and so do +$100.
I'm just not savvy on them so any recommendations is appreciated.

Harris is the standard for mid grade bi pods. I like the HBBR-S in 6-9" and have two of them. My only complaint is that they are sometimes a bit on the tall side and I have to dig holes for the feet.

Better get some 20 rd mags or your legs will dangle.

Get a Harris tilt and call it good.

Yep, Harris is the cheapest bi-pod I would recommend also. I use quite a few of them and any of the HBR series would probably work for you. They are a little more "hoppy" than the more expensive bi-pods, but still very shootable.

Disgustipated is wise.

The Winchester sold for 40$ at Wally world is identical in design to Harris. The springs are just a tad weaker but they're still solid pods for a very reasonable pod. I have a few, and a few Harris and I have to look closely to see which is which.

Can't go wrong with the Harris, but I have also found the GG&G bipods as very reliable. GG&G also makes a Harris Bipod QD adapter, so you can easily add/remove your bipod and adjust your configuration as needed. I've used a Grip Pod, too, and found it to be very tough/reliable (apparently, used by USMC), but it's not nearly as versatile as the Harris or GG&G products.

I really like the Versapod ones I have. I have both a short and tall unit and adapters on several rifles, works great.

I have a Harris also but have only shot once with it, worked fine.

I use the Harris on my Rem700 .308 heavy barrel. Should work good on an AR, but as mentioned get 20 round mags or the 13" Harris.
