Well if the world is going to end, then why bother! [ROFL2]
Anyway, nice find. It would be nice to have the whole thing compressed and downloadable in one shot though.
soon enough i should have 40gigs available for passing around

Great find, but just to confirm for a non computer savvy guy, there isn't a way to consolidate and download those files right? Thanks!
Yeah would love it if one of the super-computer-literates among us could set and FTP client up to grab all this stuff, then make it available to the members here. Any takers? :)
What do you invision? I can set something up to grab everything and do something with it. What is the "something" in that last sentence? Post it to the forum by category? Combine it all into one 14GB file to download? Or????
Only problem would be the remote possibility of copyrite issues. wouldn't like the ar-15.co domain name caught up in that. ftp.ar-15.co etc etc
I'm contacting their webmaster to see about being an official mirror and distributor of the content, and at worst see about copyright issues. They offer it for download to your PC at will, so I imagine making another distribution source that takes some load off of their servers would be beneficial to both ends. I'll see what they say.
Ok... Contact has been made. So we will see what they say.
In the meanwhile... how do you all want to see the information presented or made available here if we get the blessing?

I think one downloadable file would be bestest. Can't speak for everyone, but I like to have my own copies, and there's so much there it'll take forever to grab it all. One downloadable file we could all grab it to our hard drives, as if TSHTF we'll lost power and "internets" anyhow.

See above. THANKS J!!!

Hmm, can't speak for everyone is for sure, can barely speak for yourself! But your damn good at fixing my screwed up ads, and fast to boot! [Beer]
ETA: It is in the dictionary though http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bestest

Great find! I'd definitely be interested in this. Even in a power out situation, you could power up off of batteries recharged via wind/solar/water.

I was thinking about this today. How sortable is the information? Wouldn't it be great if it was arranged by topic, kinda like I have my favorites? i.e. big to small (food - procurement - meat - hunting - by method or animal... or energy - solar - heat - homemade solar powered heating panel). Maybe a system of tabbed pages or drop down boxes?

Wulf202, is there a link to follow, or is it something we contact you about?

I don't have the means or knowhow to host that kind of info.
I have it on a flash drive to use for distribution
The bandwidth to host and transfer 41Gbs to all of these members is going to be insane. The only way I can think of doing it without paying an ungodly amount to a hosting service would be to upload to a torrent site and let the members seed the file as they have it downloaded.

Or send you a flash drive...
I do have one request - I downloaded the massive file o' stuff that was posted here last year and there was some useless stuff in there (seriously, GURPS? I need a Dungeons & Dragons game in my preparedness info? [facepalm]). Have you looked at all of these files?
I did too, but have not gone through all of them then nor now. But sure looks legit and like a great collection, even if you do have to wade through some GURPS. :)
Yes I can do the dvd thing but that's alot of dvds. It'd be easier to sell flash drives and.you'd get a 64g flash drive out of it. Or meet up and bring your laptop.
Next time im at jims he will be getting. A copy and a few.members in denver. It should spread quickly from there

I've browsed some to make sure they're not flawed, if even 10% is useless to you it's still a good find. I have yet to find GURPS
Is there a way to copy and paste the file list?

If you click on the "Buy from Amazon" button under each, it opens Amazon and you can "buy" it for $0.00 . In other words, Amazon's download infrastructure is used to download it to your Kindle for no charge. I didn't click on every one, but those that I did all came up at $0.00.
Thank you to who all is responsible for putting this together. The gift of knowledge is more valuable than any tangible item.

Did anyone ever put that 40gb archive up anywhere? The above link is dead....
Also, I just got done making a complete offline copy of the pssurvival resources (about 23gb), complete with locally-pointing web pages, so if anyone wants a copy (or just wants to know the easies way to grab the wholoe thing directly) just let me know...

I've got a pretty high upstream available (20M). I can setup the torrent and seed for a few weeks until everyone has it, but I need someone to give me the file. Does Jim have it? I'll go get it from him if he does.
ETA: nevermind. I'll just get it all from the site, consolidate into one file and create the torrent. Anyone have a suggestion for a torrent site to use, or should I just pick one?

Link to torrent on Pirate Bay (http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/8131690). If you already have a bit torrent client installed, just click the "Get Torrent File" link.
Link to torrent file on dropbox (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/38573680/Torrent/PSSurvival_All.rar.torrent).
I've never started a torrent from scratch, so let me know if it doesn't work right and I'll try to figure it out. This is seeding from my lower connection speed right now, but I will transfer to a different computer on a much faster upstream later today. I'll keep seeding as long as I can.
If you don't have a bit torrent client, I recommend utorrent. Just google search for it, download and install the client for your OS, then download the torrent at the link above. It is pretty self-explanatory, but if you have trouble I'm sure someone here can help. *Be cautious during the utorrent installation* It is free software, but during installation are about 4 pages of it trying to install additional software. None of this additional software is necessary - I don't think any of it is malware, but you don't need it! Uncheck the boxes and don't install any of it - you only need the torrent client.
This is everything from the site in the OP, including updates and supplements. It's about 13GB after compression. It is broken into numerous .zip files (downloaded directly from the original site); I put all of them into a .rar to compress further. You'll have to extract all the .zip files from the .rar, then extract the individual .zip files.

The uTorrent client gives an error message: "not valid bencoding"
hmm. . . ok let me troubleshoot.
Make sure you click the link that says "Get Torrent File" (the one in the middle) not "Get This Torrent." The latter throws an error on my PC too.
I installed utorrent on a different PC, over a separate internet connection (two different ISPs) and went through the steps to download the file. I didn't have any trouble; it is all working fine for me so far. Once that one finishes, it will seed at a much faster rate.

So for whatever reason ThePirateBay isn't playing nicely and providing the "Get Torrent File" link - just a magnet link and their direct download BS.
If you already have the .torrent file itself, it doesn't need to be distributed directly from TPB - you could attach it as a link here on the forums and people could just drop it into their torrent client. Can you make it available here? Could just share it from a Dropbox link or if the forum will allow you to attach it...
edit: here's what I see when I go to TPB - not sure why it's not allowing for a direct download of the .torrent file...

In any browser I use, I see the same thing as Tremek posted. And if I try to directly download it via the uTorrent client (Get Torrent from URL...), it gives the "not valid bencoding" error.
If you can send the .torrent via email or what have you, I can share the .torrent via a permalink here and also seed from my seedbox. PM me if I can help. :)

The problem will be the filesize. A 14GB won't fit in Windows SkyDrive, or even Dropbox, or any of the free cloud file-sharing services that I'm aware of.
That's not what I'm saying: the .torrent file is just a pointer - probably 50 kilobytes at most - that tells your torrent client how to get the file from other torrent seeders. If he can give us the .torrent file, our torrent clients can reach out to other people with the file to download the actual content. The .torrent file is what you download from Pirate Bay - TPB is just considered the "tracker" - and then you get all the content/data from the people that actually have the .RAR file, but you need the .torrent file to kick off that process. :)

Distribution of the .torrent file is really the only reason I put it on Pirate Bay at all; sorry it's presenting a problem for you guys. I tried to just attach the torrent here to begin with, but the forum didn't allow the attachment type. I don't have any way to host the .torrent file myself, so I'm open to suggestions. If you can host it and post a link, PM me your email and I'll send it over to you.

Put the .torrent file up on Dropbox?
Would renaming the file with a .txt allow attaching it to the forum?

I'm up and starting to pull it down, my seed box runs 24/7 so contributing to this. :) Someone might want to update the original post to reflect that URL.
Looks like my torrent box is happily seeding away - I have uploaded 24.4GB over the past 3 days on the torrent, and that was throttled at 100 KB/s. :) Going to take off the throttling for the night, let me know if you guys are getting the file.

I'm still seeding. I've uploaded over 162GB at this point. Watching the peer list (up to 27 at one point), most are from the US, but I've seen some from France, Italy, and Switzerland as well. I'll let it run for a few more weeks, or until it looks like there is no one downloading it.
I did download and extract everything on a different PC to make sure there are no corrupted files. Everything worked fine for me, so let me know if you have trouble with it.

I just started the torrent up. I'll seed for a bit as well.
Cool. Looks as though there is some full-on crazy stuff in this but there's also some interesting tidbits.
