I do not understand why the heck the Colorado Division of Wildlife is going through with this nine million dollar Elk eradication with snipers and the sort. What I don't get is why not close the park for a few hunting periods and allow IN STATE hunter to thin the herd it would make many people happy to fill there tags and they could make some money doing this.[Rant2]
END OF RANT.[Bang]

Simple I have a customer who is a federal wildlife officer and I have talked to him about this.
There are only 2 national parks in the US that can legaly allow hunting. Rocky Mountain is not one of them. It would take an act of congress to change that.
DOW has nothing to do with it it's the feds.
Basically the gov as always is wasting our money through politics and trust me your not alone on how you feel. They would rather spend "OUR" 9 million than make money by selling tags. If I was to guess the company who is going to make the 9 million has political ties. In short our politicians will make more money from kick backs than if they gave out tags.

"DOW has nothing to do with it it's the feds."
Yup, sad but true. "Snipers" at night, so I hear, so the Bambi lovers aren't offended.. Hunter, have you heard what they are doing with the meat?

I asked that question he said he has no idea what the hell they will do with the meat. He is just an officer so the higher ups run the thing. For the record he agrees with all of us and thinks its a bunch of BS.
I have had many conversations with him about how they should allow hunting give out tags. Once the population is back in check stop the hunting open the gates to the tree huggers and all is well.
Problem is it's all congress they control our National parks and money is all that matters to them. As far as the meat if I was to guess they will waste it just like our money.

I'm sorry for naming the DOW in this. I just hope they don't just waste all that meat.
Aren't those parks for the people paid for by the people? I'm sick of the BS
Only the Govt sees the sense in spending boatloads of tax dollars when they could easily GENERATE revenue by having a simple 1 week season

The funny thing is, they won't even open it up to bow hunters...BUTTT they'll raise the cost of ALL HUNTING/FISHING licenses for '08 to pay for the "professional hunters". Along those lines, they'll probably add another "habitat stamp"...
seriously, wtfo???
Yep, it sucks. I don't understand why we can't hunt in our own parks...we are part of the country, and we just happen to live close to where they need the herd controlled, so why not make the logical choice....oh wait...its the feds.[Rant2]
