I picked up a small cannon built by a friend and would like to fire it next weekend, I figure I can get powder anywhere, but have no idea where to get fuse?

Reminds me of a quote from Tremors.

[B]Earl Bassett (http://www.ar-15.co/name/nm0911542/): What kind of fuse is that?
Burt Gummer (http://www.ar-15.co/name/nm0343447/): Cannon fuse
Earl Bassett (http://www.ar-15.co/name/nm0911542/): What the hell do you use it for?
Burt Gummer (http://www.ar-15.co/name/nm0343447/): My cannon!

I used to buy it off ebay in 10 ft rolls. It was especially easy to find around New Years and the 4th of July. [Beer]

Dixie Gun Works or Track of the Wolf.

Might try The Blunderbuss:

couldn't you just pull some out of a few firecrackers,

unless you are trying to get a long way away from it before it goes off.

Most firecrackers don't use actual cannon fuse. Cannon fuse is much more robust and is more than just tissue paper rolled up with black powder inside.

I have some if you can't find any before next weekend. I would check some of the places that specialize in black powder guns. You going to the shoot on Sunday?

Cannonfuse.com. I bought slow and fast burning fuse from them before strictly for educational purposes.

To find a reliable supplier you might have to goto Wyoming. Any decent pyrotechnics shop should have it.

Cannonfuse.com has good stuff. You are going to use black powder?

Sportsman Warehouse has cannon fuse in Grand Junction. Not sure about the ones on the front range. It's in the blackpowder section.

Before buying a large length of fuse, you might want to consider checking the diameter of the vent and see if the fuse you are interested in will slide down into the vent. When someone mentions "firecracker" fuse, they are usually referring to the lacquered fuse type like the old M-80's and larger salutes used to use. You sure don't want the little twisted paper type fuse like that on the Black Cat crackers.
And as CrufflerSteve implied, you will want to use authentic/real BLACK POWDER only!! As you are well aware, a lot of modern smokeless powders are black in color but they sure perform a lot differently than required BP. Also, Pyrodex and that type artificial BP will not be as effective in a BP cannon/mortar due to their requirement of compression. IMHO.
I do NOT claim to be any kind of an expert in firing of BP shooters but I have been around them enough to know at least a little about them....Good luck.[blaster]

I bought a couple rolls at a gun show many years ago in NY, do they still sell it at gun shows?
