I don't shop there, I don't buy parts from them. I actually avoid them like the plague. I was forced at one shop I worked at to use them for one month and in the next six I replaced EVERY single part I had hung in that month. Never again. But for those of you who like the low cost prices, allow me to move you towards another parts supplier.

An Autozone store recently got held up and one of their guys defended himself and the store with a firearm. He was subsequently fired due to a zero tolerance policy on guns with Autozone.
I just saw this, thankfully I hit the refresh before posting a new thread about it. [Beer] Since my friend owns the Car Quest store up here in Evergreen, I shop exclusively there. F*ck Autozone. NRA Radio has an interview with him... if this happened in Denver, and I had my own business, I'd offer the guy a job. Everyone calls him a hero, except Autozone. WTF? Oh and the guy is a veteran.

what store do you recommend? I mainly use NAPA but shop around and sometimes use vatozone.
Autozone screwed me hard on a "Remanufactured" long block assembly back in the 90's, basically called me a liar to my face. I disassembled the engine and found numerous problems(.060 over on a 302?!?+++), had to sue them to make it right. I never go in there willingly.

My employer would fire me for useing a gun to save someones life as well, therefore I would not try to save them.

Depends on the vehicle. Asian and Domestic NAPA is good to go, as is Carquest and Advance. For anything Euro World Pac or go dealership. But World Pac is only available to shops.

On Euros, is Rock Auto or (BMW Specific) BAVAUTO any good? That's usually where I order parts and what not from, when I'm not in a rush or it's something minor like bulbs and oil filters (for that CarQuest).

read this a day or so ago,
what aholes,
so if need to rob a store autozone would be the better bet, less likely to be able to defend themselves
Sorry to say but this is pretty much par for the course with companies. They sure as shit don't want any lawsuits and the zero tolerance policy sucks but you gotta live with it. I'd still rather be unemployed than dead.
Next thing you know you will save some woman from being raped and she'll sue you or something. Freaking people are retarded!

RockAuto is good, Bav auto is (from what I remember) generally overpriced. Pelican Parts is great, as are the folks at Rocky Mountain European (www.rmeuropean.com).

I learned a long time ago from a Missouri State Trooper that when procedure over rules common sense you may need a new procedure. I used to work for a libetard. Feel sorry if you have to.
I thought it was called Vato Zone???

I agree, If some guy just wants cash and isn't threatening my life he can have anything in the store (assuming the anti gun policy and that I don't feel personally threatened, IDK the specifics for this case for how the guy felt).
I never really found most of the people at auto zone very helpful. I wish I knew where I could get parts at a local place in SW colorado springs.

Don't start with me, that was NAPA parts. All the part failures came from Dodge dealership. I just ordered one of three different parts for the front end and had to go get new ones. I had an idea on your zirc. I will give you a ring tomorrow.

Are you being facetious? I remember reading a story exactly to this point a few years ago. Woman is being attacked/raped and another stranger saves her life shooting the attacker and she later sues stranger for 'emotion damages' due to seeing her attacker shot in front of her eyes. I forget how it all played out because I couldn't bring myself to look into it any further once I knew the basis of the 'story' regarding the hero who selflessly saved her life only to later be sued by HER for mental damages.

I work at an O'Reilly's right now while I'm adjusting to normal life again and funny thing is, my boss and I had actually talked about this today...
We came to the same conclusion, If the guy comes in demanding money or product....give it to him...no point being a hero over shit that's insured anyways and can be replaced..However if human life comes into place..then it changes the ball game.
If at any point I would have the ability to go for my firearm and human life is being threatened or I deem could be lost...that's the only time at which I'd step up and do something..
But if someone comes into my store at night with a gun and says I want all the money in the draw and 25 gallons of oil...I'll ask him if he'd want help bringing it to the get away vehicle...its Insured!!!! WHO CARES....
Moral of the story is, Dont try and be a hero...it gets you killed or...in this poor guys case, fired.

Ditto!
P.S. I work at Advance and they don't allow us to carry in the store..
I only use vatozone to get Advanced to lower there prices. I hate going into that store as the customer service is horrible and parts are crap. I have a set of wires and CV axles in my 92 Integra with 12K on them and they already need to be replaced. This will be the third CV axle from Autozone I have replaced on this car. I replaced the passenger side when I did the driver side and got a bad axle out of the box, replaced that one and now the driver side is going out again. I treat my car very good and do not abuse it in any way (I mean come on it is a 92 Integra) so it is definitely their crappy parts. I used to work for them years ago and if we did not greet the customer within 5 seconds of them coming in there were write ups handed out, you get 3-5 you do not have a job. If I were to run any of the Autozones I have been in I would fire everyone I have ever had to deal with for horrible customer service and bad attitude and lack of knowledge.
Atrain- [word]... I can vouch for their lack of knowledge- especially the AutoZone in Watertown, NY... When I was stationed there I needed to replace the spark plugs on my Dodge and asked them if I should go with the premium ones instead of OEM suggested. Talk about deer in the headlights. Thank God for smartphones. [facepalm]
