Here is the start of a 7.5" pistol and eventually a SBR build. The only problem is getting my hands on a Spikes Pirate / Jolly Roger lower has become next to impossible...any help would be much appreciated!! The laser work was done by Troy at Colorado Gun Writes, he is local and has a booth at The Tanner Gun Show great work and great prices...Had to throw that in there I was very impressed with what a cool guy he was!!

Lower is a Dedicated 9mm DDLES, Upper is a 9mm Rock River with a 5" Barrel and DD Lite Rail.
Top is a Form 1 SBR. Bushmaster lower build with a SW M&P upper. I cut the barrel to 11.5 inches.
Bottom is a 9mm. I am waiting for a Form 1 SBR that was sent in early December. It has a RRA barrel I cut to 11.5 inches with a CMMG Enhanced bolt. The lower I hacked out of a raw forging. I made it a pistol so I could make sure it worked before I blew the $200 on a Form 1.

They work awesome. I started with a SF brake, but they tend to jam up the ratchet system after 600+ rounds. It's also hard to get the can on/off. The brake has a slot, the hider actually has a cutout. Can't have that. The SF flash hiders are the way to go. the pic is of my mini, honestly, the 556k is the way to go and a little quieter. The mini takes the "ringing" away. I have a 556k pending with the batf.

I would take an AR over a PS90 (SBR or not) any day. I got the bug to do the PS90 a few years ago. They're a fun range toy but that's about all I would use it for.

This is what I have gathered on SBR and AR pistols since I started my build
-no need in Colorado for a AR pistol to have "pistol" anywhere on it.
-an AR pistol is a AR with a barrel shorter than 16" with a buffer tube not easily converted to accept a stock
-The lower must be transferred as "other" on the ATF form and never assembled as a rifle.
-You CAN go up from a AR pistol to a SBR or full 16" + rifle but not down from rifle to pistol
-the AR pistol may not have a stock or vertical fore grip but a Magpul AFG has been ok'd by ATF documentation available on AR-15.com in the pistol section
-lastly on AR-15.com a lot of good information all these subjects if I missed anything please add to this list

The SB should be about the same as the 556k, longer and quieter than the mini. My Mini, is one of the best cans I have. SF is excellent. Every once in a while the ratchet gums up, I bought an ultrasonic cleaner. Good as new.
