View Full Version : Choate stock
Anybody have any thoughts or experience with this type of stock?

It is the only "tactical" style stock I can find for a Savage in lefty.
I really like the HS Precision stocks ( http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/43532 ) but I haven't seen or heard if they make one in a lefty.

I have this stock but in right handed. its stiff and there is no flex, but its heavy.
For a mere 4x the price you can get an XLR, which comes in lefty:

but I'm guessing that's a bit much (at least, it is for me)
I had one on a Savage years ago. It works just fine. It is bulky and heavy. Nice for shooting prone or off a bench but no way I would put it on a hunting rifle to carry around.
SO I just called HS Precision asking if they offered a stock in lefty and they only offer one, and its for single shot rifles. I then asked if they would sell a stock that wasn't inletted for the bolt handle, so I could do it myself, The answer was again no. Looks like that Choate is the only choice. I really don't like the weight of that stock though. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Check out Manners http://mannersstocks.com/
I'm more than pleased with mine. You can order it how you want it. It looks like they have left handed models.
You get what you pay for...
Check these guys out. They are in Colorado.
