Been thinking about picking one of these up. Seems like a bunch of people on the LE field really like them. Wondering what you all thought.

Been thinking about picking one of these up. S&W is currently offering a mail-in $50 cash rebate and 2 free mags if you purchase a M&P before Jan 31 '08 if that helps any in making a decision... Pretty good deal/incentive IMO.

I haven't fired one so can't really offer any personal feedback, hopefully others will chime in.

I like the gun and think it has a great feel but the trigger sucks big time. I can't deal with that flimsy awkward saftey on the trigger.

In a self defense situation I would rather not be pulling a noodle, I would much rather pull a trigger.

just my .02

They don't make one in 10mm. 'nuff said. [Neene1]

I have the .45 and the .357sig, as hunter said the trigger is not the greatest, but overall they have been great I have around 400 trouble free rounds through the .45 and 150 through the .357, there is a few guys having trigger jobs done on them, and say it changes the whole gun. I actually prefer the .357sig over my glock, but my kimber 1911 is still my favorite .45 of the two. s&w claims they put the heavy trigger on there for leo's who work in close quarters, to avoid friendly fire.

If you have plans to use the M&P for competition you may want to wait a few months. There is a persistent rumor that S&W will be unveiling a 5" model in 9mm and .40S&W at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas (February 2008).

I have handled their current "full size" gun (4.25" I think) and IMO it is better design than both Glocks and XD's (this is my VERY biased opinion). The trigger feels a little stiff in the beggining but it works itself out quite nicely. Also, if you are "technically" inclined you can do some polishing and the trigger will end up much better than any Glock you have ever tried (with the exeption of one that has a Vanson or Glockwox trigger system). If you are not the DYI type, you can always send it here: http://www.burwellgunsmithing.com/ for a little bit of tunning and still have money left over for ammo.

I can't wait until February... I want one of these badly!

S&W offers this as an option. You can also get them from the factory without the magazine disconnect and without the lock.

Some people prefer to purchase it with the magazine disconnect and then remove it themselves; a very simple operation. This way they can choose to re-install the disconnector if the gun ever gets sold. Especially if the new owner is in California or New Jersey.

Thanks guys!

Think I will pick one up. I put a few rounds through one and really liked it.

7 was making fun of me about that one, because even GLOCK's dont work good without a magazine....... Or I should say a magazine with ammo in it.
