Too bad you can't buy their original stuff anymore.. Nothing like having a 2.5W blue laser in your pocket.

I'm more interested in the counter-measure death ray that will nail the asshats who target our planes with these things

So what is the big deal with pointing laser pointers at airplanes anyway?

Considering all green lasers are limited to 5mw in the states and I can buy one on mono price for 10 bucks... I'm thinking someone is getting ripped off here.

similar to "painting" it for land or aerial attack. Feds get kind of crazy if they think there is potential for an attack on commercial airlines. Lock you up and bleed you to death money wise.

Any laser can be a "burning laser" given the proper lense and output.

These things are an incredible way to end up in jail or blind. Less than 1 second direct exposure to a 1w blue laser without proper eye protection can render someone permanently blind. To me, they're cool as hell, but I wouldn't want to risk having one around. It would be difficult for a child to tell the difference between that and an innocent flashlight.

They have interlocks that require multiple steps to turn on the laser .

On some models, yes, but catch a nice reflection off a piece of glass, mirror, etc, and even if its not a perfect reflection like a mirror, your vision can still be damaged.

Next time I need to pop 100 balloons that are lined up in a straight line I know what to use. That question had been bothering me for some time.

Build your own. My buddy has made a bunch of these, plans and components are online. My friend puts his in a Star Trek phaser housing, yes he's that kind of guy.

Irving, they're is a good chance the laser will cause eye damage to the pilots. I know quite a few guys who've been hit and a couple that've suffered permanent eye damage. This almost always occurs on landing. And it's a federal offense.

So people just hangout by the runway and shine planes with lasers?

$299? Yeah, I think I'll pass... either that or I'll just save up and go for the gold and get an AN/PEQ-15A. [Beer]
