Let me start by saying I am not involved with Second Amendment Firearms Experience (S.A.F.E.) financially, I just happen to know the business partners.

As you may have read over the last day or so, a new and state of the art gun range is being proposed for an area of unincorporated Weld County. The owners of S.A.F.E. are requesting that the City of Firestone annex the property. A vocal minority of Weld County residents are attempting to block this. Ron Abramson, the managing partner, asked me if I knew anyone who lived in Firestone who might be willing to attend a public hearing in the next month or so stating that they are in favor of the annexation. He feels that actual residents of the city would be more convincing than non-residents.

If you are a resident, keep on the lookout for this upcoming meeting, and try to attend. More local ranges (and certainly one of this caliber) would be great in my opinion. If everything goes well, they are planning on opening in the Summer.

Not sure I understand the Firestone annexation, I'll need to look into their "master plan" a bit more however I believe the closest Fire & Police services are in Platteville less than 5 miles east on Hwy 66, perhaps something could be contracted. I am not a resident of Firestone but support the facility as a "local resident" though it may not help driving a controversial annexation in conjunction with general acceptance of the range. Perhaps Ron would be willing shed to light on the annexation requirement as I don't quite understand why you'd pick at that can of worms unless you had to. Weld County is generally very supportive and accepting of shooting sports and businesses.

Firestone does have it's own police force. And the nearest fire dept is in Frederick.

Sorry if I was unclear, I meant if that was the driver for the annexation though Platteville/Gilcrest FD is a bit closer than Frederick as well (about 3mi).

Oh, gotcha.

So where is this proposed range going to be built?

That would be a good spot. Hope there isn't too many oil and gas pipelines going through the property. That could complicate things.

Hi Everyone - I saw a good number of new members to our facility from this Forum this morning so thought it would be good to chime in and thank you for your interest in Second Amendment Firearms Experience and thank you for spreading the word! I am the Managing Partner of S.A.F.E. It's a very rare and unique opportunity to bring a world class firearms training facility to the Front Range of Colorado and we will have a tremendous number of opportunities including a 65,000 sq. ft. 7 bay covered range, multiple outdoor range, automated moving targeting systems, lots of reactive steel, 2 shoot-houses and a law enforcement video simulator. Coupled with this will be some of the best firearms training you can receive anywhere. This facility will not have long distance rifle - it is intended to be for handgun and urban rifle training distances so we will open with 50 and 100 yard bays as our maximum distances coupled with 25 and 15 yard bays. We will have roughly 150 shooting positions available at any one time on opening day spread over 12+ bays.

To answer your question Whistler, the 900 acres of land we are locating the facility on is along the Firestone Trail. In fact, the Firestone Trail cuts directly through much of the property. This parcel is part of the Firestone planning map and Master Plan and has been for a very long time and was always intended to be the north edge of Firestone. The previous owners have been in discussions with Firestone for many years about Annexation and were planning on putting a 70 home subdivision plus commercial and industrial on the property. I think this is a much better use for that rural area more in line with the character of the community where we can preserve the vast bulk of the property as it is.

Thanks so so many of you who have already requested memberships. We are truly honored by your business and we look forward to having the facility open this summer assuming the firearms community can rally behind our project! We have already lost over half of the ranges on the Front Range in the past 15 years so this is truly a unique opportunity to bring responsible firearms ownership and outstanding training on a 900 acre facility to Colorado.

Best,

Ron

Good deal on the LE membership.

Prices seem way high on the memberships to me? $300 initiation + $30/month, + $15 or $19/hr for weekend use? And that's their 'entry level' setup?

Seems like they're looking for the more active shooters... Making it more logical to get the membership that offers more time.

Not to mention... Weekday shooting is the best shooting. No one to contend with.
