View Full Version : Has anyone been to Jensens, Green Mtn or Sportsman's today? Is the panic on?
Until today, I was planning on stopping in at GMG after work, but now I suspect it'll be packed. Has anyone gone to a gunshop today and if so, what was it like?

Ya dont bother
R&S- I'm guessing he's an FFL, said that CBI is backlogged real bad right now... I wouldn't even attempt it.

Just got back from Elk Bomb picking up some lowers I had ordered in, and the back log was at 580 ish and a little over an hour. That specific store wasn't overly busy, but it's a small shop too. I'd guess the big shops are standing room only.
Yeah, not a good day to go browsing... :-(
Stopped by Sportmans about 1:00, they were stacked up 3 deep at the counter. Heard "not quite an hour" from a guy standing by the computer, but not sure what he was talking about

Just made a purchase at 5280. At 2:00 my paperwork was started. 2.5 hours for it to clear. Place was PACKED! Checkout line was 8-10 people deep all day long. They must have moved hundreds of guns today. Between 2 and 4, at least 15 ar15's left the shelf. At 430 the place was still full and everyone was buying. At the ammo and gun store on 52nd people were loading up cases of ammo. It was an insane day at the gun shop.

Both- lots. Many multiple purchases. One person came in and bought 5 ARs.

Was at Rocky Mtn. Guns and ammo. background check took 2 hours. Went to Bowers and and picked up some things. Had a nice talk with them. RMG&A had a lot of good conversations going on. Panic buying is in full effect.
I was in Sportsman's right before lunch. Seemed to be quite a gathering around the "black rifles".

Yea. When I dropped by this afternoon, looked like you guys had your entire staff in. Also saw what I thought was ARs in boxes behind the counter. More people than I cared to fight thru. Btw, good to see you today.

Presuming you work there do you have any Knights Armament .308's in stock?

No Knights 308s, but we do have a 5.56. If it's still there.

That guy is a dick [Flower] Unless he's giving them away. GMG has been busy as heck even before today. I'd be sad if I had enough funding for such a purchase with nothing in stock.

anyone know what time the background checks open up on Sundays?
Wow - glad I'm concentrating on reloading.
Stopped in at Jensens around 3ish to get some AK mags. The place was rather zoo-like.

Don't be surprised to see campers at most LGS's . This shit ain't going away anytime soon.
I just want a single action revolver or maybe a lever action rifle, they need to let me go first!! Because ... Uh, because I rock? Yeah.

I doubt the lever action's have even noticed their "darker" brethren all left town today. What caliber lever?
My son and I have a small gunsmithing business and we start every day behind 5 or 6 customers. I can't get parts to do any builds with right now.

Was just at 5280 Armory, back grounds are running over 5 hours.

Yeah, they'll still be there if nothing else is left. .357, maybe another .22 as well just for fun (maybe mag just so I have to buy even more ammo). Hard to beat the Winchester but with 2 sons who prefer 9422 over 1022, it'd be easier if each had their own
5 hours? Damn
Jeeze, I guess I'm glad I've already got more damn guns than I'll ever need, I just hate standing in lines or sitting around waiting! And even though I've got more ammo than I can reasonably store, I've also got enough supplies to load up a couple boatloads more. Reckon I oughta be doing that.
Besides, I buy more guns from you guys here than from anywhere else.

I went to go buy some extra magazines yesterday, and the guys at Denver Guns said there was a line when they opened up.

Mike at Bowers said he had a line 20 minutes before opening and his standard amount of pmags was pretty low. It was packed in there and non-stop customers.
Ya, the run is wide open.
I stopped by the firing line. Unlike the four vehicles circling the parking lot looking for a spot, I just parked illegally in the field next door. Went in and didn't see what I was looking for. Good thing. It probably would have been about an hour before anybody had time to wait on me. Lots of new gun owners buying their first guns. At least I am guessing they were new since I overheard a couple of them saying they had never filled out the 4473 before. Heck, one couple even screwed the form up so badly the guy had to start over.
The gunshow in the springs was PACKED. More buying than ive seen in awhile.

Colorado Gun Broker has at least 2 Bushmaster Patrol M4s for $989 each. Few other neat EBRs...SCAR 17 and 16, ACRs, etc..., lots of Glocks and XD pistols. Had some bulk ammo in x39 and .223, too. No lines, no waiting...except for background checks.
Went into Sportsmans by the Citadel to get some primers and powder. More people at the gun counter than I usually see in the store. Had to go to customer service to get my powder.
Just got back from the sportsmans in Loveland and they literally had a line set up so that you couldn't stand at the counter.

It's been been like that all week.
Sportsmans (thornton) was a zoo. No way in hell I would I even walk up to that gun counter. Had about 6-8 people back there but had about 20-25 surrounding it.

Bear Arms had 6-8 people behind the counter @ 9ish this morning. I stopped in for the comp snicker doodles and choco chip cookies. Who buys guns @ gun stores?
According to my favorite shop, Instacheck has averaged 1500 transactions in que all day. Average wait varies from 3 to 5 hours.

The panic is officially on. If you want an "assault-type rifle", you better get it fast. Firing Line was INSANE today. All of that type going fast and furious.
Firing Line was packed so hard people were filling up the dirt lot next door. Looked like they were out of most every AR-15 and M14-type rifle
Gander Mountain has you taking numbers and waiting to be called
Bass Pro is pretty much out of 223, 308, SD ammo and only has a couple pounds left of each powder. I got 200 bullets, some TacBac and left.

No problem, you guys looked a little busy :)
I only went to pick up another box of TAP. Looks like everybody is out of it right now, though...

We still have quite a few ARs, a few AKs, no M1As, plenty of 223, 5.56 and 308 ammo. We haven't raised our prices one penny since this all started.

Left Green mountain at 5pm. The place was bare bones in semi auto pistols in both the new used sections. They only had a new Glock 23 and two Glock 22 pistols left in the new shelf. Even revolvers were cleared out except for the older styles. Noticed what used Semi pistols that were left were marked up in price than where they should be. Black rifles were pretty much gone. They made a killing, however i wonder if they will be able to replenish soon. Either way I went on Gunbroker after this trip and bought some things that I don't need but may be good investments, mainly because I believe we may see some bad times as gun owners in the coming months.
I was at Machine Gun Tours and Green Mtn Guns today. MGT had lots of customers, but still had 30-rd Pmags and a surprisingly good selection of Evil Black Rifles. Green Mountain was packed, and at 5:30, the NICS wait was 6 hours. People were buying guns and ammo left and right, leaving lots of empty space in the display cases. I have no idea what they're going to sell next week, but it won't be guns.

As of yesterday, midday, Jax in Lafayette had just one AR-15 left, Wal-Mart in Longmont and Thornton sold all stock of ARs, Sportsman's told me they had a Bushmaster BR308 and some other more high-end AR-10s but zero AR-15s. CBI wait time was at 21 hours.
Any reports of CBI wait time and inventory levels today? Might go do some window shopping after work...
