View Full Version : advise needed
I'm looking to get a sight/scope for the new sig 556 I bought, the eotech does not clear the charging handle enough for my liking, any recommendations? I've been looking into the trijicon tri power? or maby the 2x acog, I mostly use it for coyote, or varmint shooting, 99% of the shots are under 200 yards? also have you taken your hand gaurds off yet? i have tried doing what it says in the manual but im worried im going to break something with to much force. if so any tricks?
yep, just go easy when pulling off the top handguard, pull back before pulling up you should have no trouble.

I'm thinking i've narrowed it down to two, its between the acog, and the new bushnell.

after some serious internet bargining, and several phone calls, I found and ordered the acog 4x32 ta01nsn. I think I got a sweet deal over $300.00 off retail, now off to bed so the buyers remorse dont kick in.

ok i have been fighting this thing for an hour now and cant get them off. the top hand gaurd slides indendantly from the bottom one right? because mine will only move together. im sure im missing something stupid but i cant figure it out. i have the gas system removed but not the outer tube. that comes out after handgaurd removal, yes? i can get both pieces to slide all the way back until they make contact with the reciever.
mine might be a little picky as i have one of the very early models. first 250 made and have heard of people having troubles. any suggestions?
you have the upper and lower seperated correct? ( a pia to do using two screwdrivers)

no i don't. you have to pry them apart? is that what those little slots are for?
one is a screw, one is the pin, have someone help, and with two flat screwdrivers hold one and unscrew the other, you have to have the upper and lower seperated to remove the grips.
Have you considered an aimpoint in a cantilever mount?

so the fact that i am just pulling the back pin is the reason it wont come apart? thanks for the help ill give it another try when i get some time.
yep, the bottom handguard has a hole that the front takedown pin goes through.
it has arrived!

Nice setup [Beer]
do your fingers still get caught? looks good.
I have not tried it in action yet but it seems to clear well, I'm going to try to make it to the ranch tomorrow, but between the other half, and a sinus infection, I may have to wait till the weekend.
did a cople of alterations this week to the 556, single point sling, vertical grip, and a new brake.
