View Full Version : Citibank terminates CDNN for firearm sales!
Everyone should outraged by this:
Citi Merchant Services drops firearms distributor
January 7, 2008
CREDIT CARD PROCESSING COMPANY REJECTS FIREARMS INDUSTRY
REFUSES TO PROCESS TRANSACTIONS . . . Citi Merchant Services and First Data Corp. are refusing to process any credit card transactions between federally licensed firearms retailers, distributors and manufacturers -- a move which will severely limit available inventory of firearms and ammunition to military, law enforcement and law-abiding Americans.
The first company to be affected by this decision appears to be firearms distributor CDNN Sports Inc.
"We were contacted recently by First Data/Citi Merchant Services by a June Rivera-Mantilla stating that we were terminated and funds were being seized for selling firearms in a non-face-to-face transaction," said Charlie Crawford, president of CDNN Sports Inc. "Although perfectly legal, we were also informed that no transactions would be processed in the future, even for non-firearms. I find this very frightening."
To voice your concern to Citi Merchant Services and First Data Corp., please contact June Rivera-Mantilla at 631-683-7734 or her supervisor Robert Tenenbaum at 631-683-6570.
To change to an NSSF-affiliated credit card processing program, contact Payment Alliance International at 1-866-371-2273 (ext. 1131).
From Citi's letter to CDNN Sports:"Keep in mind that a violation of the Gun Control Act occurs when a gun offered online is sold to an individual in another state; the act prohibits selling a handgun to a resident of another state. Shipping accross state lines is also banned, yet guns for sale reach people accross hte country. We at Cit Merchant Service are nable to monitor or track adherence to these Gun Control laws."

How sad that now credit card companys are trying to police the people.
This must be some kind of a joke. Citi* can't be this stupid...
Out of curiosity, what's the source of the story? Not doubting it, just want to get this posted a few other places.
I just concluded a transaction with CMMG. No problems here.
I just cancelled my citibank MC (just before christmas).. I had been a customer since 1985, but they tried to pull some stupid shit on me with finance fees (and I carried a zero balance) I told 'em to FOAD. they could care less.
seems like I did the right thing

Whats bs is their are flat out wrong on the shipping across state lines and selling to a person out of state, as long as you go through a FFL dealer your good to go.

Guys they have been doing this for many years this is not the first time. 4-5 years ago they canceled the account of a Nevada gun dealer because "he dealt in guns". He was a licensed FFL who by law would have to do back ground checks on every single gun he sold.
You all must have missed my post about Home Depot credit cards, Citi-Nazi bank is the financial institution that Home Depot uses.
If you have a Home Depot CC you are supporting them and infact you best find out who the rest of your credit cards are coming from.
Citi Bank can kiss my arse!![Mad]
Just recieved a couple of S&W pistol mags from CDNN that I paid for online with a citi card on Monday. When is this supposed to have started?

It is late and I am not going into detail but let me say it has nothing to do with your card. Other than the fact your supporting a anti-gun business.
CDNN simply changed merchant accounts so it has nothing to do with them not accepting citi bank cards. It has to do with citi bank dropping them as a merchant.
but hey keep useing that citi bank card Sarah, Rosie and the rest of them love you for it.
Citi bank VISA is the only credit card i've ever had...
But i pay off in full every month and get 3% back on all my purchases... those basteds aint making a penny off me!

They get a fee from the stores you shop at for accepting the card. They are still making money off you. I can't say how much because my info is old, but at one time credit cards were getting 5% and higher from the stores. You used to see 2 prices for gas at gas stations. A cash price and a credit price. Also on gun broker some auctions say add 3% for credit card usage, so I'm guessing CC companies are getting 3%??? One of my customers said there is a percentage charge and a fee with each transaction. I think they said 10 cents plus 4%.
hrmm :(
Well when my credit rating gets good enough i'll just switch to pentagon federal credit.... cause yea they have a nicer program :) but they denied me :(

i think the fees i pay are more in the ballpark of $.25 per transaction and somewhere around 1.4%. i refuse to pay anyone a 3% fee for taking my card. anyone that is doing that is making additional profit from that. it also states in my contract with the card company that i am not allowed to collect an extra fee. that is why you do not see the 2 prices for gas any more.

And that is why EVERYONE pays that difference - that fee is just in the price no matter how you pay.

The whole thing is a scam with the percentage rates. In six years of being in business I have had several merchant services.
They play so many damn games it is not even funny. You can get the places that will give you some insane low percentage rate. The thing they don't tell you is that you pay transaction fees and also monthly fees.
It all boils down to one thing and that is your business and how it operates. For instance if you have a convenience store you would be better off paying a higher % rate with no transaction fees. If your an auto shop like the me your better off paying transaction fees and having a lower % rate.
I could write ten pages on these asshats and how they scam businesses.
As to the original poster F**K citi bank and the box they came in. I had a citi bank card and they did the same thing to a licensed FFL dealer in NV years ago, I canceld the card. Those of you that have a Home Depot card are useing Nazi bank also. I used $8500 of ther money interest free for six months and then canceled the card.
When I called up to cancel my Home Depot card they of course asked why and let me just say after I got done the person on the other end was speachless.[LOL]

Citibank isn't making money off of anyone using cash. Delphi said Citi isn't making money off him because he pays it off every month and gets 3% back. I said ya they still make money. I don't understand your statement saying they are still making money off of a person paying cash???
Probably because the statement was "with each transaction" and not "with each credit card transaction".
Poor Citi. They're really hurting, but they're putting a finger in the eye of legal gun sales.

Citigroup Inc. swung to a fourth-quarter loss of $9.83 billion, or $1.99 a share, from year-earlier net income of $5.13 billion, or $1.03 a share, as continued woes in the sub-prime market caused the company to book pretax write-downs and credit costs of about $18.1 billion. Results for the latest quarter also included a $4.1 billion increase in credit costs in Citigroup's U.S. consumer loan portfolio. In addition, the struggling financial-services company said it is shoring up its finances by cutting its dividend to 32 cents from 54 cents, and divesting itself of non-core assets and businesses. The company called the fourth-quarter results "clearly unacceptable." The New York company said revenue dropped 70% to $7.22 billion from $23.83 billion a year earlier.
But we shouldn't be surprised by bad decisions from Citi. They were deeply involved in the Enron scandal.
So, credit card fees = Bad Debt?[Abused]

Do you believe corporations pay taxes and not you, also?
No, they only get transaction fees for each authorized transaction (CC charge). I think the concept is, merchants raise normal prices to cover CC charges since they can't charge extra for CC transactions. Same concept as everyone pays for shoplifting [Coffee]
Such easy and simple concept, isn't it? Kind of like "tax the rich" ;)..
I haven't looked lately, but I get dinged $0.28 per transaction plus close to 3%. Debit cards are more. If the CC companies catch you charging more for a CC transaction they can terminate your contract.
If Citibank is crying poormouth, it's only because of creative accounting.
Anyone seen the documentary Maxed Out?

Do you possibly have any idea that you don't understand this thread? I'll make it simple.
Delphi says... I use a citibank card. I pay it off each month. I get 3% back. They don't make money off of me. Meaning citibank doesn't.
__________________________________________________ __________________________
I say, yes they (citibank) make money off of you using that card. They get a fee and a % every time he uses that card. Therefore, they make money off of Delphi. If he used another card, they wouldn't make the transaction fees from his spending.
And then you go off not making any sense. I have no idea what the hell you are saying when you post "Do you believe corporations pay taxes and not you, also?"
Your posts and quoting in this thread make no sense because you obviously aren't understanding what has been simply stated. Take your snide comments and attitude somewhere else.
Corporations don't pay taxes. The taxes get passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices.

I tried calling the specific Citi individuals and got "please send any CDNN queries to questions@firstdata.corp" on voice mail.
Needed to get a new credit card for airline miles anyways.. heh
