Trying to get the wife to go out shooting and trying to teach her anything about firearms has been next to impossible over the years. She has had very little to no interest.
So, you can imagine the shock and surprise I experienced last night when the wife came home and informed me that she and two of her female coworkers are going to take a class at the end of January so that they can apply for their CCW permit. Hence the title, You could have knocked me over with a feather.
Now a question.
She said that the class was somewhere on Arapahoe Rd., and couldn't remember the name of the business.
The only places that I can think of on Arapahoe Rd. That are firearms related are Bowers Tactical and Centennial gun club.
Is there any other places doing Firearms classes on Arapahoe Rd.?
I will have to find more out, I think bowers is GTG for a CCW training, ( at least this forum holds them in high regard, and I have a very limited but OK experience with them ).
But I know nothing about the staff at Centennial gun club.
Thanks for any input.
SSB.
I think centennial does women only classes. No real knowledge of how good they are. Hopefully someone else on here knows. Btw, congrats. Spending on guns, accessories & ammo will now double.
Thank your wife for taking the first step to responsible safety.
Please remind her that carrying is a commitment to continued training. Like so many other things in life, if you don't practice, you will quickly lose competence.
Not every instructor is right for every student. Try different instructors and be open to learn.
Be safe.

There was a recent opening of a range/gun store that opened down in that area but the name escapes me right now.
Edit-it may have been the Centennial one already mentioned

I'm not familiar with the area so I can't help out with the question but I do want to congratulate you. It's awesome that your wife is wanting to do this.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Have you guys started looking for her gun yet?

Well, if what I have in the safe doesn't match her purse of the day or clashes with her shoes, guess I'll start in the trading post and work my way through the local dealers........ Hey, X-mas is coming and she is so hard to shop for, Santa's bag just may be a bit heavier this year......[Tooth]

That's awesome! Mine said the same thing last time I was deployed, right after the movie theater shooting.

I call BS on this one. What you posit is about as likely to happen as Illinois having a concealed carry la...............uuuhhhhhhh..............uuuummmmm mm............well, don't I feel like the f*kin' a$$hole.
Congrats to you my friend. You're extraordinarily lucky. My wife will never change her anti stance. Maybe your wife can talk some sense into my wife.

I have a buddy who is a member at Centennial. They sound quite good from his descriptions.

Lucky SOB. Mine is game for shooting, but training or carry? Not likely. Hoping the Pepperblaster will at least make it into the car, if not the purse...
After years of trying to convince her, I'd be pissed.
Anyway, the shops you listed on Arapahoe are correct, and a new one on Havana between Dry Creek and Arapahoe just opened up a few weeks ago. I made a post about it. I think it is called Tactical Solutions.

Heh, this brings up a good point. The best way to convince your wife/girlfriend to shoot/get ccw isn't you haranguing her, hinting, etc. It's to get her with a couple other women folk who do it. Same thing goes for picking out what gun she should have... it's not your decision, it's hers. So what if it's pink or has pretty engraving all over it, the goal is to get her shooting!

My wife recently sat on a jury of a murder/sexual assault case. During the trial see ran into the brother of the defendant at the grocery store. She wasn't sure if he noticed her or not but that was enough to make her want to get her CCW.
