Does anyone have any recommendations on a DIY home security system? I've looked at the Swan and the LOREX systems but wanted to hear what others have to say about this.
Thanks
One of the members here is a pro and might show. Maybe try for a search to find him?

Medium to lg sized dog. Either photo-electric or motion sensor lights, for all areas of your property. IF you do not have your outside lights on, you are a target. Keep garage doors closed same for front, rear and side entry doors. Have a neighbor or friend pick up and papers or mailers left on lawn or door handles. THESE the basic home security system features everyone should have in place. You can say they already done, perhaps, however you would be surprised how many board members do not. Across the street is a lg sign that says NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH. That block has not one single outside light on, anywhere. 95% of that block leaves the garage door wide open, front door open and i can watch 40% of those houses LG SCREEN TV'S from the street!.
Not what you were inquiring about, but some food for thought.
Don't know anything about the security systems but we bought a video Lorex baby monitor and I have to say that I'm pretty unimpressed with the quality of it. The receiver is wireless and if you get more than a couple walls away it won't connect with the camera. The overall build and construction seems quite cheap too. Like I said, it's not the security system but that's my Lorex experience.

I tried searching and wasn't able to find anyone, plus i'm kind of on a time crunch to get this done. I'm looking for about 3 to 4 cameras to be installed. I leave my lights on and lock the doors etc. I really cant post too much info online about the situation.

Are you wanting a preventative solution or do you just want to be able to document something that happens?
If you want preventative measures, as Jim suggested, a medium to large dog is a great option and you get a buddy out of the deal. After that, lights, harden doors and windows, the usual stuff.

I have a couple cameras up. I just bought some software called blue iris. and got a couple cameras that work with it. I can watch it on my phone, and every time it detects motion it takes a snapshot and uploads to a remote server.
