If you had to pick a case for long term storage of a vintage rifle that you no longer wanted to store in a safe, and probably weren't planning on firing anytime soon what would you pick?
The plan was to apply a liberal amount of break free collector and seal it up. I was looking at Storm cases, thoughts better ideas?

I was just thinking about this last night. In one of the end of the world books, it wasn't One Second After, I think it was some other series called the last light or something like that. Anyways, the guy used PVC pipe to bury thousands of rounds of ammunition unbeknownst to his wife. With the talks of new firearm bans, I figured I should scrounge up the materials to do this in the worst case scenario that I need to bury some of my firearms/ammo.
To the OP: Perhaps a Pelican type case? While expensive, they are very resistant to extreme weather changes and would probably do the job very well.
The PVC pipe storage works very well, I even coat the weapon with vaseline and seal dessicant into the PVC pipe.
I'd look at those $20 hard cases and a gun bag. http://www.polygunbag.com/gunbags.html

I would think a gun sock and a hard case would also work well.

You know what they say... If it's time to bury them it's probably time to...

sell them, shoot them, clean them, dry fire them, upgrade them? Never heard of any sort of saying like that.
Just an extreme utterly worst case scenario. Probably won't even buy the pvc, have too many other things to buy for my house.
