Let's see where all of nynco's pro-gun democrats fall on this one. I'm telling you, "pro-gun democrat" is an oxy-moron. This is just the beginning:
CBS NEWS (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57559661/pro-gun-dems-talk-gun-control-gop-largely-silent/)
Thanks for that, Carl... The room is spinning from all the hypocrisy. But you are 100% correct, Pro-Gun and Democrat don't belong in the same sentence.

Hey you learned a new word from the FIRM thread...............[Flower]
..........I have seen a couple of the news article "Democrat Pro gun NRA life member" is now saying warming up to sensible gun control............. I am so tired and angry................ what to do?
In defense I know plenty of GOP members who are okay with gun control. The Original AWB was not a single party event either.

Good friend of mine is a gun owner, and Obama voter. As was my dad, and his best friend. I don't get it, but they are, so...

Yeah, I know a couple who are hardcore Obama lovers and are all excited about getting guns for Christmas. I don't get it.

What's wrong with that? Just because you prefer one candidate or party over another doesn't mean you have to agree with them on every single issue. Anyone who does that is probably a complete retard with no free thought.

Right, since all gun control legislation comes from Democrats these days... it's part of the package deal, you support the Democratic party you support an anti-gun stance, whether you like it or not. That's the sad, sorry, unfortunate truth right there.
I know plenty of gun owners who identify themselves as Democrats.
Hell the vast majority of the people on SomethingAwful's gun board and /r/guns say they are Democrats. Can't blame them, seeing as the other major party is full of religious whackjobs.

Yes, insofar as you are voting for someone who may vote that way in congress, but that does not mean you actually support that stance. No free thinking person agree's with every stance of either party and everything every member of that party does. But to say that there can't be a pro-gun democrat is just idiotic. There might not be many in a position of power, but there are many millions in the general population. You are allowed to have a stance that does not follow the party line, and it is not uncommon at all among normal people.

History has shown us, time and time again, that in the last 3 members who are in the oval office, the democrats (not just the president, but congress as well) hinge their party on being anti-gun. While that may be one part of the party some disagree with, it's still part of the party's ideals, and thus, Carl is 100% correct, that being a "pro-gun democrat" is an oxymoron. So no, it's far from idiotic, it's looking at it realistically and honestly. Failure to see this fact is where the real idiocy lies... just saying.

Just to be clear I'm referring to politicians. If you support dem pols, you're supporting gun control by default.

I hope Dems choose their party affiliation not because they dislike GOP, but because they believe in liberlism. I can respect them for that. To say they are dems because of religious whackjobs on the other side is weak. Full disclosure: I am a registered independent because of Bush's 2nd term, but consider myself a gun toting conservative.
Now as a gun owner, this is what scares me about Dems:
We recognize that the individual right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition, and we will preserve Americans' Second Amendment right to own and use firearms. We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation. We understand the terrible consequences of gun violence; it serves as a reminder that life is fragile, and our time here is limited and precious. We believe in an honest, open national conversation about firearms. We can focus on effective enforcement of existing laws, especially strengthening our background check system, and we can work together to enact commonsense improvements--like reinstating the assault weapons ban and closing the gun show loophole--so that guns do not fall into the hands of those irresponsible, law-breaking few.Source: 2012 Democratic Party Platform Sep 4, 2012
If you are a liberal gun owner who own high cap mags, or the so called 'assault weapon,' then yes, it is hypocritical to support this party imho.

Yes, when talking about politicians that makes sense. But that is like saying everyone who votes supports torture since it happens no matter who is in power.

So you have to agree with 100% of what the party says in order to not be a hypocrite? That makes everyone with a free thought in their head a hypocrite. I think it's worse to support what your party does just because they are your party than to support a party despite disagreeing here or there.
But then again I think supporting either party is stupid since both are filled with idiotic self serving assholes who care more about doing what the other party doesn't want than doing what is actually right.

So that means you only voted for independent party members and only ones where you agree with 100% of what they think?

So personally, what do you agree with soo much with the democrats and disagree with with the republicans to push you to the left?

That doesn't answer anything and has nothing to do with what I said. I asked if you have to agree with 100% of what a person or party supports to not be a hypocrite for voting for them
Also I am not a liberal, but I am not a blind conservative like most of the people here. I am firmly planted in being a moderate, I think both parties are wrong 90% of the time.

Nothing, I am not on the left. I am pretty squarely in the middle. I actually disagree with both parties the majority of the time and think the real solution is in between, but neither party is willing to compromise anymore. Both parties are more concerned with "winning" than doing what is right. That said I voted republican the most in this last election with libertarian/independent being second.

Well I'll speak for myself and most gun owners, COMPROMISE, when it comes to liberty, is not an option... You compromise on what shirt your wife/gf wants you to wear, you compromise on what to name your dog, you do NOT compromise on the constitution. Agreed?

Yes, I completely agree with that. Gun control is one of the issues I am very far on the right of. And issues like this once you start compromising you will never stop. They will nickel and dime you each time something happens with a new compromise until you have nothing left.
I was speaking more of social and political issues in general. Obamacare is a good example. Even republicans agreed that a lot of it is good. Pre-existing conditions, age limits and so forth, but that the individual mandate is very bad. But given the option the republicans kept trying to repeal the whole thing rather than just the parts they disagree with. They are trying to stop something they think is a good thing from happening, just because they wanted the democrats to lose. The democrats do the same damn thing. Neither side wants to do what is right, they want the largest perceived victory they can get. That is what I think is at the core of almost all political issues these days.
I don't get all this party line shit... you're either for the Bill of Rights, or against them...............
