View Full Version : Another "supposed" 2A friendly family member...

This is an exact quote from my cousin, who by all accounts I've ever witnessed is a 2A supporter:
"To the defenders of the 2nd Amendment rights: there are appropriate (and ample) moments for you to defend your rights to own guns. The same week of the massacre of 20+ children and adults at gunpoint, however, is not one of them. Have some respect please and hold your tongues."
Ok, 1st off, what would be considered an "appropriate" moment to defend our right to own guns? Oh I dunno...maybe when the government starts talking about taking that right away? Like right fucking now possibly? Which brings me to my next point...shouldn't your dumb ass be pissed off at the slimey excuses for representatives who are politicizing the deaths of 20+ young children to further their personal agenda? Instead of the people standing up defending YOUR rights too? For fucks sake people, this guy is a goddamn PHD. How in the flying buttfuck can you be that stupid to get pissed off at a equal and opposite reaction to the wonderful "leaders" in Washington trying to control the populus, which YOU just happen to be a part of as well? Family sometimes...Tom Arnold said it best (I'm going to take a bit of artistic liberty with the quote for the situation):
"Family...can't live with 'em...can't kill 'em."
/pre-morning Rockstar rant
I would agree 100% that the hours and days after a shooting is not a good time to debate gun rights, gun control, and 2A. Sadly, Bloomberg, Obama, Feinstein, et al disagree.
I give the rant a 7.6. It lacked a certain energy, but got good points for style and cussing. Could have been a little longer for maximum effect.
I know we have raged but did he realize that all the recognized and organized firearm organizations (NRA) have refrained from anything until today? It's the anti's that have been so vocal.
what an asshole.

Well, the NRA tried taking the high road and didn't make any kind of comment after Sandy Hook until yesterday - shut down their Twitter, Facebook, no press releases, nothing. And what did it get them? Death threats, politicians telling them it's time for them to go, political cartoons, editiorials, etc, etc.
Only thing you can do is remain calm, be reasonable, and stand your ground.

I probably should have waited for the Rockstar to kick in...

I actually agree.. Only very recently, I started to present counter view and facts to the antis. The first week is definitely not a good time to confront these morons. Most can appreciate that.

Well and that's what made his comment so dumb to me...I don't think anyone disagrees that the discussion should have started so soon. But when immediately the anti crowd starts screaming about how there needs to be swift, sweeping change, that kind of backs us pro folks into a corner doesn't it? Probably just another tool for the libtards to use. They knew we won't roll over, so they pressed the issue immediately knowing we would respond, and then they call us insensitive for talking about it so soon.
I agree with TFOGGER, I'd rate it somewhere in the mid 7's... length was too short, and I would have included some descriptive visuals like "The Brady Campaign and anti-gun legislators (to include Diane Fuckstein) are the ones standing over the bodies of the dead children crying for our rights to be infringed."

Believe it or not I had a very heated 2A debate with a liberal Thursday night. Very heated. Friday the tragedy at sandy hook elementary happens. He never calls or texts me to say "I told you so". I finally speak to him Monday when I went over to help him move some stuff. He actually has done a 180(on 2A) disagrees with an outright AWB and says we need to focus on mental health. I was fucking floored.

Color me shocked and amazed. You must be one hell of a persuasive debater. Good work!

I had a similar experience as hgh. Wifes friend was against guns and didnt think anyone needed them. After this she said gun free zones are a horrible idea, and that more good people need guns. I was shocked and happy.
I think an AWB will be like healthcare. The majority will be saying no, but they will still push it through.

I don't think so. Boehner still runs the House. Even though he's bending over on taxes right now, I doubt he thinks he can survive giving on taxes AND another AWB.

Have your cousin let me know when it would be an appropriate moment to tell him to go fuck himself. I can wait.

I'm about 3 seconds away from doing just that. He responds:
"The great thing about this country is that we can say what went want whenever we want. More importantly, perhaps, are the times when we CHOOSE not to speak out of respect for those in pain. It's called tact. If you don't like politicians using the tragedy to support their causes, then don't do it yourself."
Post morning Rockstar...I respond:
"You do realize that the first people to come out and politicize the shootings last week were the gun control advocates right? And so us 2nd amendment supporters are just supposed to bend over and take it where the sun doesn't shine with "tact" because a bunch of agenda-riddled bureaucrats are campaigning for their agendas while standing over the bodies of 20 dead children (thank you Ronin)? No...that's bullshit. How about you direct your anger in a constructive direction (towards the despicable organism that committed this terrible tragedy) instead of bitching at the people who are choosing to stand up for their rights as Americans in the face of a government who wants to take those rights away."
And then he just deleted his whole post because he didn't have the stones to admit to being wrong. Fucking libtards...

Funny stuff.
If people need a moment or day or even a week of silence, I would be happy to participate. [Beer]

I spoke to some local libs who works for EPA Reg 8 (Denver downtown office), and they are hearing rumors about putting fee and straight ban on public ranges due to 'lead contamination.' WTF? Any truth to this?

You seriously need to consider running for local office at least. [Beer] Tell it as is.

I'm sure none of us would like to have to defend our guns rights this soon after a shooting, but the problem is that if we don't we will lose those rights for sure (we're screwed either way). Obama, Bloomberg, Feinstein, etc look at this as the perfect time to push forward on their agenda to reduce our rights because they know that with all of the emotions running with the SHES shooting there will be less resistance and those that are on the fence will be leaning more in the direction of their agenda.
As much as I hate to say it, Hickenlooper at least had the decency to wait until some of the emotion of the theater shooting died down before pushing for discussion on the subject instead of trying to force things down everyone's throat at a time when emotions were running high and it would have been easier to push something through in Colorado.

It IS supposed to be quite chilly tonight....[ROFL1]
Seriously, though, I think a lot of the hardcore antis are actually struggling with their programming when confronted with common sense arguments. Some of them have their heads so far up their asses they have to unbutton their shirts to see out the windshield of their car, but mentioning that the cops took 20 minutes to get to the CT school(well after the shooting was over), and some of them are starting to think...

They have been trying to do this for years. Many places in California already have lead bans. Try shooting trap with only non-toxic shot...expensive!
