If you want to keep your job, and I suspect you do, an "assault weapons ban" should be at the very bottom of your list of things to do.

I will not allow my Second Amendment rights to be infringed because of the actions of less than 1% of the population. The events in Connecticut, as tragic as they are, would not have been prevented with more laws. The shooter committed upwards of 20 felonies and I'd love to hear how another law infringing on my rights would have stopped him.

The issues are not with guns, they are with the lack of help for those with mental health problems. If the shooter had been able to get the help he needed from someone qualified to give it to him, those poor children would still be alive and 20+ felonies would not have been committed Friday.

We need to quit blaming objects for the actions of people. Evil people exist in this world and no amount of legislation will prevent them from committing these acts. We need to focus all of our efforts on determining who is most likely to commit these acts and we need to help them and their families.

Please critique as I haven't sent it yet and would like it to have some real teeth instead of just being a rant.

Well stated.

Perhaps a few additions like:

Murder is already illegal yet it happens every day.

Heroin, cocaine, meth are already illegal yet we have a horrific drug problem.

Drinking and driving is illegal yet nearly 50% of vehicular fatalitiles involve alcohol.

Please explain how criminals follow laws?

Please explain how banning handguns in the UK caused handgun crimes to INCREASE?

Please explain how confiscation of many firearms in Australia resulted in INCREASED gun crimes?

Just some thoughts.

If you want to keep your job...

I will not allow my Second Amendment rights to be infringed...

Sounds a little threatening with this wording.

I agree , may want to change that part so you don't end up on a "list"

At least it doesn't say "if you value your life"

Sounds a little threatening with this wording.

Yeah, anything can sound threatening if you remove the rest of the sentence.

At least it doesn't say "if you value your life"

That would probably get more than just your name on a list!

I heard that too... and it doesn't help his position that he's a freaking moron! He said "Assault weapons" and "Assault clips." WHAT!? God, our elected are just too lazy to take 2 min to do a little research before opening their suck holes...

Praying on the fear of the sheeple. Throw "assault" into any sentence and its scary:

Example: Firm Assault OBO... [LOL]

I would use some language like:

Youu will be running for re-election in less than 2 years. If you take an anti-second amendment stance, I will do everything that I can to support your opponents, both in the rpimary and in the general election. That includes fund raising and volunteering.

I will use your letter as a go-by for myself as well.
