The mobile phase of my business is over. I just signed the lease paperwork and cut a check to the property owner on a space.

I will be moved in about Jan 1st.

Location is 8484 S Valley Highway Ste 100. Just across I25 from Park Meadows Mall.

Very excited!!!! And kinda cold today, but EXCITED!

The Highlands Ranch/S. Aurora actually. Or just people who drive a Euro trash car.

Congrats on the fixed location.

I have told him that on occasion. May have lost a few customers due to cussing at him...

It was not too bad. I wore long johns, work uniform and my lined coverals. Only things that got cold here my hands and feet.

Yea but in a heated shop you can do the same work in your tee shirt.

Nothing beats a lift bay. God I miss the auto crafts shop when I was active. I use to be right across the street from my barracks and it was my second home. Congrats on your new business change. I am sure you will do well with your new endeavors. Right now I am midway through a total rebuild on my Audi so I feel your pain on the cold.

Glad to hear it. But that's going to be a commute for you isn't it?

Glad to hear it. But that's going to be a commute for you isn't it?

Denverites have a weird idea about commuting. I used to commute from where I am now to Sheriden and 6th. Not a big deal. I also used to commute 10 miles in the DC metro area and it took me over an hour some days. Now that sucked.

And considering there were days with this business model where I started it in Aurora, went to Golden, then to Parker and back to Golden... Blech.

Big thing for me is having the ability to just order parts and then keep working instead of driving across town to pick them up.

Glad to hear it. You worked on a friend's vehicle & he was pleased with your work. I also felt for you a couple of days ago when you mentioned in another thread that you would be working outside during the cold & snow.
Good on you and good luck with it!

I know there is a market for the mobile business, but I never could bring myself to it. I've had to do emergency repairs to friends vehicles in this kind of stuff, and there isn't enough money in it for me to do it. Hopefully you'll have better luck without a partner to drag you down, one reason I never jumped into opening my own shop I guess. Seeing you're a german specialist, if you decide you want to work for someone again, my employer is planning on opening up a shop in denver next year. We do a ton of german junk down here, but I pass that to our krout specialist, lol.

I signed a 5 year lease, I am not looking for a job any time soon.

What I really ran into is that the Euro cars typically live in HOA neighborhoods and they do not allow work to be done on a vehicle in a driveway. People are also slightly nervous about a "mobile" business. I would get calls and have sold the person on the job and they find out I am a mobile service and they would say "uhhhh, well, I will call you back..." and never do so. All in all it paid for itself (once I opened it I didn't have to spend any money from the house budget on it) but I have not cut a paycheck to myself yet. Good online rep and some more tools is what I have to show for this year. Next year will be better with a fixed location.

I can give a brake job on an X5 if you are still looking for work before opening the shop. No problem with HOA, Smokey hill and Buckley area. PM me if interested, Jim
