So who's seen Cloverfield?
I hear if you get motion sick easily, it'll make you sick.
I've read about it some, but wanted to know what you guys/gals thought.
My 22 year old son loved it and talked my wife and I into seeing it. We went last night and she thought it sucked but, I actually liked the story idea and for the most part it kept me interested in what’s next. The only thing is the camera movement. I found myself tilting my head trying to straighten out the angle. It reminded me of a jumpy video game with a gaming mouse. They never gave away what the monster was or where it came from. I thought the ending of the film would revile more information about the beast but you’ll have to see it to find out what happens. ;) PS. Sitting as far back as possiable should help with the motion sickness.
Loved it...also had to adjust my brain to deal with the shaky cam, but loved it otherwise...
Heard one review that termed it as the "Blair-Godzilla-Project" .. I'll wait for DVD
It was ok but, I hated the ending. wait for DVD.

I liked the special effects, really good. Think that it will win something for the special effects, but the story has an ending that is obviously linked to a Part II somewhere down the road, maybe next year.
Unless you have a big screen plasma with surround sound set up at home then spend the $6 and see it at the movies, it's worth it to experience the special effects and sounds.

I'll have to sit in the very back of the theatre to not get sick, I'm a wuss that way [LOL]. Movies like 'The Kingdom', 'Saving Pvt Ryan (beginning shot)', all made me sick. Can't play some video games too much as I get sick.
absolutely terrible. no story line developement, terrible actors, classic hollywood bull crap. the main characters brother dies and all hes worried about is saving the girl he banged who he got in a fight with but truly loves! it took a tragic event for him to realize his true love, how dramatic! highly un-realistic scenarios and acting (even when getting past themonster thing). yes, it is godzilla mixed with blair witch. i spent more time laughing through it and the terrible attempts of good film.
i heard wonderful things which is why i saw it, but hell, dont waste your time.
I saw it this weekend and over all I liked it. For such a short movie it didn't seem short. One of the things I really liked is the movie doesn't end with a happy ending and you learn pretty much nothing about the monster.

Saw it this past weekend, waiting for Cloverfield II.
Thought it was an OK flick, didn't get tooooo sick.
Did anyone see the 'splashdown' in the ocean at the very end of the flick?

It worked because of what it is, a documentary-style handheld recording of the events as they take place. Unedited, unscripted, REAL. If it had been touted or upheld as more than that, it would have sucked. As it was, it was a decent movie.
